People issues

Hi, I am new here so I may have missed something or comment on things that have been raised numerous times before (I did do a search!), but here goes.

Have I missed something or doesn't People have a field for someone's web address (linked to the browser)? I could not find one and couldn't believe my eyes.

Can contacts be duplicated? (Partner gets his/her own entry, but much remains the same so copying an existing entry is very convenient)

Is there really no copy and paste facility?

Are there alternatives to People that can handle some of the things raised above?

No, there is no facility to add a Web address. Contacts in Outlook that have a website address do not show them in People. Different Contact types (such as Phone, SIM or Google) can have different fields, but none of these support a website address. The closest is adding a note to a Google address under Add|Other|Note

You cannot duplicate contacts, although you may be able to do this in Google or Outlook and then sync.

As David noted, you can cut and paste the text of fields by a long press on the field and either Select[ing] All or highlighting the text with the ball. You paste by long pressing in the field you want to paste the text into and selecting Paste. This works across applications.

I don't know if any alternatives to the People app (unfortunately).

I discovered another somewhat illogical discrepancy. In People I can add someone and press the back key and it will save the changes (in fact I have no idea how to get out WITHOUT saving the changes); but if you try that in Calendar it doesn't save anything. Somewhat confusing and not very well thought through!

I agree, they should really have consistent navigation on the standard phone functions. Anyway in people just scroll to the bottom and click cancel while in edit mode
