Phandroid and Androidforums.com's New Look!

We used to have separate logos for each site.

View attachment 34416

If we're going to persist in one logo, I still think that Home needs to go away as redundant on both sites and Forums needs to slide over and take its place.

Yeah, I know. I was just trying to clarify that Phandroid.com and Androidforums.com are linked and always have been. At least, ever since I've been a member.

That's how I joined in the first place, just because I was reading news on Phandroid and wanted to see what the forum community was like...and I haven't gone away since...LOL.

Ok, clicking the Phandroid logo here takes you androidforums.com.

And bottom of page Next takes you back in time, while Previous lets you go forward to the later-in-time time stories already viewed.

Stories are arranged chronologically. By applying the word Previous to mean later in time, what could possibly go wrong.

Expecting people to accept Next as in next up from a query, and previous as...

Garrr. Never mind. This was done on purpose, not seeing the wrong of it.

And we keep trying so hard to push you out the door, too! :P

Seriously, I've asked for the wide skin more than once, but the dark color is now more important on my agenda than the wide skin. It's too bright!

★No doubt that some good points were made in almost all posts. Hopefully we'll see some changes be made soon. I'm sure that everybody won't be satisfied with the end result, but nonetheless it's worth seeing. シ

Please don't ignore those of us who find the new theme WAY too bright. It is hard on the eyes and I find myself unable to stay on the site for long anymore. Please provide an alternate theme. This blinding white is unbearable.

Agreed completely. It's WAY too bright now.

I haven't had much chance to compare, but I think I prefer it to the old look.

However I don't appreciate the keyboard shortcut cmd-left taking me back a page. This seems to happen while I'm typing a post, because Mac OS uses it instead of the Home key to got to the beginning of a line. Don't get rid of it altogether, but could could you please disable it while I'm typing? :)

This is probably a little nitpicky at this point but should the first new post icon(
firstnew.gif
) have the same look as the goto last post icon(
lastpost.gif
)?

I'm not sure if this got lost in the initial flurry of comments on the redesign so I figured I would bring it up again.;)

Well, let's keep them bunched up then. Are we to expect this (
report.gif
) to be the report button from now on or is this on the punch list?

This layout has substantially slowed down my phone. Hopefully it will get better ewith time because it is taking an unbearably long time to load pages, but my paltry 600Mhz processor could be a huge part of the problem. Looks good though!

I miss all the blue.

Also, and I am not sure if it is different than before, but if I happen to maximize my browser, a lot of empty space in either sidemargin that is highly noticeable now, at least on my firefox browser. Makes it seem annoyingly narrow.

I never noticed this before, possibly because I rarely maximize. When I un-maxmize, it seems to scale normally. I dont remember what it did before, but it did jump out at me now.

A delay before the pop-ups from the blue ribbon appear (HOME, CARRIER, PHONES, ...)
+1 or keep them from popping up unless you click on the button. It's annoying to have these huge boxes that cover half the screen pop up when I move my cursor from my tabs down to the forums.

Don't post very often, but just thought I'd drop by and share my appreciation for the new look.

I love it. It's very up to date with the minimalist design that's generally accepted nowadays.

RE: The font issue, one of our developers said this in the Phandroid Comments:

Seriously phandroid. The font on this thing is awful. Us readers can barely read the articles. Eye Strain.
Steve Albright said:
It will be changed very soon. We have been working on performance tweaks as well but the font I know will be changed very shortly.

So, presumably, this means chrome users will be able to expand the font size again soon :)

Not much of a poster, but read and search here daily! I like the new look and style, but Im afraid I can't read hardly anything here anymore. As bad as I hate it I have had to go to other forums for info (none as good as here) The text is way to small and the brightness is blinding!! Have a little compassion for those of us with less than X-Ray vision.

3 links don't seem to be working at the very bottom of the site, lower RH corner:

Sitemap just yields "Page Not Found"

Disclaimer and Terms of Service simply jump you back to the top of the existing page. They don't take you anywhere. This is repeatable from Waterfox 64 bit, Firefox, and from Opera 12.

MANY of us have complained of the same thing. It's WAY too bright and hard on the eyes. Unfortunately the site admins have chosen to completely ignore us. Very disappointing and just a bit rude.

When does the corporate world ever listen to those of us upon whom they ultimately depend for their existence? :)

I don't find it too bright, but then I only run my displays at about 30% brightness. If I ran them at the 100% they ship with from the manufacturer, most every website with white on it would be retina-burning. I will say this. I would much prefer this color scheme than those forums which are white-text-on-black-themed. Those truly ARE hard on the eyes.
