Help phandroid answer now!!!

Did you update the browser recently? Just speculating that maybe that might explain a change in shortcut behaviour. Or something to do with bookmark syncing (which I've never enabled, so again just guessing).

In Firefox long press on an existing bookmark brings up a context menu, including the option to add to home page. But that's right at the bottom of the menu, so not somewhere I would think you'd hit accidentally.

But it really does just sound like a bookmark, so I'd not bother resetting the phone.

Anyways, thank you guys. I hope you are correct. I cannot reset my phone as I need it for work in a few hours. Maybe, I can reset it after work. My fear was, keeping it on my phone (while I worked) as it does wicked things.

You're very, very welcome!

And welcome to our AndroidForums...sorry for the scare and the confusion--you've every right to be concerned and vigilant...security and privacy is something that everyone should take seriously and it looks like you're very conscientious :).

I honestly have no idea. I see no other options in plain view, to add it to the home screen, after the prompt goes away the first time you bookmark. This is why, I organize and keep my screen as icon free as possible. So I can notice things I did not install. I just really hope it's a friendly bookmark. I had some serious problems with viruses and having my computer hijacked, and files lost. To be quite honest, I just started using smartphones last year. And I been trying to be as cautious, considering how much i utilize my phone.

It's not ya fault, but thanks. It's really weird. No ones like waking up and seeing something you did not install on your screen.

I actually did a lot of research about android sites before choosing one to use. I googled best android sites and stood with android authority and phandroid. I actually also Google if the sites are safe.

Anyways, thank you all for the help. I am sorry for falsely accusing. Hopefully it's a safe bookmark, but for an extra precaution, I will back up files I need, and reset my phone after work.
