Root Phiremod 6.1

You might want to check out the new OC kernel too. :D

If I flash 6.1 and ALSA can I fix my battery issue at the same time or would I need to fix that before I flash?

And thanks for the link.

Sure, could do all at once.

  • Boot into recovery
  • Clear batt stats
  • Flash 6.1
  • Flash alsa
  • could even flash update kernel
  • reboot into Nook.

Hey colchiro - would you mind going into some specifics about your configuration? I'm using 6.1 & the new kernel and got a quadrant score of about 1500! Nowhere near the 3163 you're getting!

haha :/ well after tweaking a little bit I got it to somewhere in the 2200 range. That seems more in line with the other scores I've seen!

This setting can produce amazing results ... Photoshop. ;)

Yes, the above screen shot was from the dalingrin thread, not mine.

My best score was 2467 (after about 10 tries). Lowest was close to 2000.

I'm getting around 2500.

Phiremod 6.1 has the 4/18 kernel built in.

Yes, I found that out after I posted that. Due to a typo on the page, I was under the impression it was a different build so flashed the 4/18c kernel.

... or you have something that's causing low scores.

6.1 has an updated kernel, which should improve your scores.

You could just update your kernel to the 4/18c one and flash the alsa library.

This thread is the dev thread for the new kernels that allow overclocking your NC from 800 to 1300: [Kernel][Eclair][Froyo][CM7] Dalingrin's OC kernel [4/04/11] - Page 169 - xda-developers

This app appears to be the easiest way to update your kernel: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.teamwin.kernelmanager.free& :D

I don't know the best way to update from one custom kernel to the next tho. Previous to using this app, the best way was to flash your original rom (Phiremod/CM7), then flash the updated kernel.

Definitely getting better scores now, in the 2200 range, nice and zippy... except with a little keyboard lag. But its still usable.

Is anyone having wi-fi issues with 6.1? My WiFi will connect, disconnect, connect, disconnect. I've been trying to figure out a fix, but the solution still evades me. Any help is appreciated!

does this include flash? im on auto nooter right now and really wanting the froyo love but dont want to lose the root. but if this can do flash then im in.

Has anyone else with Phiremod been getting terrible battery life in sleep mode? I used to be able to go over a week with using minimal batter drop while sleeping. Now it seems I can barely go 3 days without having to recharge.

I’ve recalibrated the battery and set the performance to “conservative”. Any ideas?

so whats the prerequisites. i went to the website and when i get to this, i dont know what to do

- Boot into the latest ClockworkMod Recovery for nook from Rom Manager
- Format SYSTEM and then DATA

do i need to already have a cm7 mod before this?

i can do the things on the page for install, but when it starts to get into line editing i get scared.

CM7 currently has an issue where the battery will still drain somewhere in the range of 1-2% per hour when in sleep mode. If you want to keep CM7 / Phiremod there's no way around it at the moment, but it will hopefully be fixed soon.
