Help Phone is really starting to get on my nerves after 3 days

My phone says Im connected to the guest wireless internet at work. When I try to open pandora now i get the error - Unexpected JSON error occured: Value <HTML><HEAD><TITLE<>Cisco of type java.lang.String cannot be converted to JSONObject while StartupAsyncTask

that is the exect error showing up while trying to open pandora.

When I have 3g on in the office none of my sports apps or weather are properly showing info, they all say waiting to retrieve info, but never do. i have full WiFi strength and no reception bars in the office, but still cant do anything

NOT TO MENTION! I unplugged my phone from being charged at 6am this morning, while it as still in airplane mode until about 745, at this point I had already lost 10% battery. I played angrybirds and had the pandora app running (3g) on the train and by the time i walked the 2 blocks from the train to the office (just pandora) I was already down to about 58% remaining in just 3 hours with what I would consider, light use.

Can anyone help with any of this. Never thought listening to the radio and trying to get a phone to last 8 hours would have been this hard or i would have just stayed with AT&T

that definately doesnt seem right. what type of phone do you have? And does the phone work on other wifi networks. also have you performed any basic trouble shotting steps yourself. I have a few ideas to try that may work but a little mroe info would be great. If you havent already try pulling the battery out and letting it sit out for like 20 seconds then putting it back in, theres a chance this may help.

For the battery issue- has it always drained that quickly? Check battery usage under Settings>About Phone> Battery, see what is using the most battery. If it's the Android system, click it and look at what apps it's listing. Also do a quick google for "HTC Evo Battery tips"

As for Pandora my recommendation is uninstall and reinstall it? If that doesn't work I'm not sure what the problem could be unless your work's wifi has some kind of weird settings.

As for your sports apps, you said you're trying to get them over 3g, and you have no signal bars in your office? That would be the problem, try them over wifi alone.

If all else fails.... hard reset.

The phone would be an Evo, thats why I had made the thread here.

Yes it works on other wifi networks, my home, my gfs, the one with work was working intermittenly Saturday, and yesterday, and more problems today. The troubleshooting I have done would be shutting all things down (havent removed the batter, will do that now) going from airplane mode to other modes, forcing close background apps and such.

Yes, the battery has always seemed to take longer to charge than discharge obviously. I heard that charging from the USB on a computer (even with the power source plugged into it, is still slower than the regular wall adaptor) I have uninstalled and reinstalled pandora, and it seems to be that way with other music apps as well.

My guess is a weird network at work, and spotty 3g service. From reading the biggest battery eater isn't necessarily using 3g/wifi/4g, but its when they can't find a good connection and constantly have to search for network, try to connect, fail, retry connection, repeat. Bad connections also explains the pandora trouble.

I can run pandora for an hour, play angry birds for an hour, internet, email, text, phone calls through the day, watch a couple you tubes, search the market and my battery makes it 12 hours before it hits 10-15%. I DO turn all radios off when not using them though.

I charge my phone through the computer overnight and it takes less than 7 hours, but don't know exactly how long.

One more thing, your work network could be screwing with your connection through firewall/router settings.

^ more likely it is some type of setting on work's wifi. do you have a work desktop? is your internet restricted access?

this isn't hard....I will ask differently

can you browse any site on your laptop...facebook, youtube, mobile banking, digg.com, photobucket, myspace, yahoo etc

or is it restricted where you can not view certain sites?

some work sites have restricted access to the internet and most popular sites are blocked with firewall and other settings.

i had the same problem with pandora at work wi-fi. You need to log in to your wi-fi everytime by opening a web-page, it should ask you for username, passwd. The w-fi setting on your phone might be saying, "connected" but you still need to log on to be able to use it. unisnatlling and re-installing has nothing to do with it. i am sure you are able to use pandora when at home or through 4g network. hope it helps
