Root Phone Stuck In Bootloop (S-OFF HBOOT 1.50)

I've done the Juopunutbear S-OFF process and have wiped and flashed countless ROMs as well as flashed some different HBOOTS (1.5 for MidnightRomJ, 1.57 for JMZ stock and 1.58 for MidnightRomICS) but now after flashing 1.57 to go back to stock for a profile update (had to reactivate VM service) and flashing HBOOT 1.5 and trying to flash MNRJ or restore my backup, it keeps bootlooping. I've reflashed HBOOT a million times already as well as wiped everything and tried flashing the ROM and even restoring my backup doesn't work. What could be wrong? My bootloader reads: *** LOCKED *** SHOOTER XC SHIP S-OFF RL HBOOT-1.50.0000 eMMC-boot Aug 7, 2011.10:21:40 and my Recovery is 4-EXT which keeps asking me if I want to remove SmartFlash.

Remove SmartFlash.

You don't want that if you are S-OFF since it requires a bootable kernel to flash the boot partition so if anything wipes out you current kernel you can't flash new kernels successfully. With S-OFF you can flash the boot partition in recovery along with the rest of the ROM so there is no need to use SmartFlash.

SmartFlash can be turned off temporarily in the tools menu of the recovery but that will reset every time recovery starts so make sure to turn it off in the recovery settings from the app as soon as you can boot your ROM.

I disabled SmartFlash and still am getting a bootloop. This is so frustrating! :(
I see in your profile that you have an old radio and PRI, and you mentioned that you've flashed several different bootloaders. Flashing bits and pieces of different firmware has caused booting problems for many users so it may be worth taking the time to follow this guide for flashing the RUU and OTA to reset and sync your phone with the current stock components.

It should take no more than hour including the download of the RUU.

Awesome! I will try this now, where can I find that OTA file?

Do I need to use:
RUU_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_2.89.651.2_Radio_1.09.00.0706__NV_NV_SPCS_1.43_release_271101_signed.zip

or

RUU_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_VM_1.13.652.2_Radio_1.06.00.0426_NV_1.53_144_release_262287_signed.zip

I would assume the 2nd one since it says VM but maybe that new one might work better?

Flashing RUU now as PG86IMG.zip
Do I need to re-flash the recovery after all this or just flash the OTA and be done with it?

Got a bit of a problem now. Flashed the RUU then the OTA and now can't flash a recovery since I guess the phone is not rooted anymore. What do?

Did you read through the guide I linked? Check steps 4 and 5.

I skipped step 4 since I figured I had HBOOT 1.5 and it would work but I'll try the custom HBOOT suggested. I did connect the phone through FASTBOOT USB though and I even installed the HTC Sync and the drivers (closed Sync though) since at first no devices were showing up after the fastboot devices command. Still got the FAILED (Remote: not allowed) after trying to flash recovery but I'll post my results after trying with a different HBOOT.

OKAY & OKAY you da man ramjet! Now let's try and flash a ROM on this sucker!

Edit: FINALLY I get to see a splash screen on my phone after like 5 hours! Thank you so much, I guess this thread can be closed if need be, or marked as [SOLVED]! Awesome work by the homie ramjet!

Looks like I counted my chickens :( lol all I got to see was the splash screen but it's progress! Maybe I'm just impatient but I'll keep at it until my phone is working again damnit!

I'm wondering why it sticks at the beats splash screen when I flash MNRJ + gapps. Could it be the JBear HBoot or cuz I disabled SmartFlash?

Don't you need an unlocked boot loader to flash ROMs? I think? I was told to unlock my boot loader before I could install a ROM correctly. And when you flash a new hboot they come locked by stock.

I think it might be your HBoot try Hboot 1.04 like DakMan says in the instructions. Also, someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Jbear Hboot is a derivative of Hboot 1.57

You don't need an unlocked bootloader if you are S-OFF because the custom hboot gives you access to the same fastboot commands. What bootloader did you install? My recommendation is the JBear 1.50.5050 GB hboot and WFTN should work fine with that as long as you "format all partitions except SD card card" in 4EXT before you flash it.

Ok well I tried flashing MNRJ + gapps with the JBear 1.50.5050 GB HBoot and that's when I was able to get up to the beats splash screen. However, it hung there and now that I've re-flashed HBOOT 1.50.0000 (the one I initially had working with MNRJ) it just bootloops. I'm going to re-attempt flashing with the JBear Hboot but I am starting to think I may just have to try another ROM... Could it be that I flashed the OTA right after flashing RUU and it had no ROM?

I'm starting to think that SmartFlash isn't really off in 4EXT. Are you doing the "format all partitions except SD card" from the wipe/format menu before you flash? Try these steps:

1. Start 4EXT recovery
2. Go into the tools menu and make sure SmartFlash is disabled.
3. Format all partitions except SD card from the wipe/format menu
4. Flash only the ROM (the gapps can be flashed later)
5. Reboot

Try that procedure exactly and see what happens. If that doesn't work try the same procedure with another AOSP ROM like WFTN to see if your problem is ROM specific.

BTW there is really no difference between the 1.50 and 1.50.5050 hboots except that the JBear version allows fastboot commands like "flash" and "boot" without unlocking the bootloader.

Well the OTA puts software on your phone so you do have it after running the RUU. Taking the OTA after the RUU is fine.

Are you wiping everything before flashing a new rom? Or are you just flashing a new rom on top of everything?

:) Yes I wipe all partitions TWICE before doing anything as well as cache + dalvik. I'm 99% sure SmartFlash was disabled but let me try one more time and see what happens. I'm starting to think it's a problem with the ROM since when I tried flashing it through fastboot update it said it was missing two .txt files I believe, don't know if that's relevant or not.

God that reminded me of the old guy from Futurama so much haha. GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! The finglonger was a success.

Well I re-flashed the JBear Hboot, made sure SmartFlash was disabled, wiped everything and re-flashed ROM + gapps. Then just waited.
Now that you can boot the ROM make sure to go into the settings in the 4EXT app and uncheck S-ON in the recovery options. That will update the config file and stop it from defaulting to SmartFlash every time you boot 4EXT recovery.
