Hmmm... my Motion popped up its usual midnight update notice, but it didn't have the "e" update listed. It only lists:

New software version:
MS77010d (30.39MB)

If I go the OTA route, does this mean I have to install "d" first, then "e"?

...hmm, I guess so too.
 
Odd, I'm on the "D" update, but when I go to Software Update, and click on "check now for update," I get this notice: Registered error- [Your device is not registered yet]. ??? How to register? Does this mean the dumb@$$ behind the metro counter missed a step in programming the phone or something? Or is it a quick fix like going to the "LG" website or something? Oh, wait... is it cuz I'm rooted? Being rooted seems to have been an issue regarding the update for some, and not a problem for others. Any leads on this?
 
I was on D and went straight to E via the software update on the PC with no problems. Just had to re-root afterwards

Did you run automated bloatware remover?
 
Tried the unfreeze, still got the same "unregistered" notice. I downloaded the E update from the link in the forum onto my pc, but how do I run it to the phone?
 
I tried to do the update ota, but got a software error message. The phone rebooted fine and im still on version d. If i try to update again ota it just says validating package and nothing else happens. Anyone know where the downloaded file is stored? I want to delete it and try again.

Update: just clear settings for the software update app - still got the same result though after trying again, i notice the pc update tool doesnt work on windows 8.
 
Well... updated (OTA) from C to E -- not directly, but from C to D and then to E. Re-enabled all disabled bloatware apps before doing so. Update went well, no issues. Disabled selected bloatware apps again after update.

So what exactly does this update patch anyway? LG seems so cryptic with their updates. My biggest fear after updating is discovering they blocked usb tethering or the wireless hotspot option. Unless its a significant update I'll just pass for the time being.

Nah, they won't block it via update, they would by a PRL :p
 
I updated my phone and want to also know what the new firmware update did along with the updated version of Android 4.04. Did the baseband update so we can use the GSM on the phone as Snap Dragon 4 has that option and its listed GSM/UMTS in the Hidden Menu.

As the LG Motion is a VOLTE phone will the phone work with the new Tmobile/Metro deal so when they turn off the CDMA side we can still make calls? If I am not mistaken all that has to be done is a firmware update and possibly a new micro SIM Card . Would we be able to use this phone abroad?

Also I found out the Master Lock on this forum and went into settings and removed the Network NCK Lock(unchecked it) does this mean the phone is now unlocked and can put in a SIM card from another network? For instance when I go to Europe in two months time can I take it to an Italian carrier and get a micro SIM . Would it automatically detect the settings so I can at least use it for voice?

My phone has the MS7701e version. It took about 10 minutes from download to being able to use the phone again. I did the same to my Father's Motion again same results and no problems whatsoever.
 
I finally tried the update from the computer since I am not rooted anymore. I made it to a kdz file but then when I press start upgrade it starts unpacking then says extract files error. Any help please..
