Picked up a iphone 4 today. Hear me out b4 u bash me lol

I've been a proud Evo owner since its launch. I love almost everything about the phone. 2 major things made me try the iphone. Battery life and size. Honestly i was tired of monitoring running apps, trying every battery tweak/tip in the book. I still couldn't make it a whole day with moderate use. Sometimes im out of the office all day and dont have access to a charger and my phone has not lasted me. also i get a decent 4G signal where i am but it drains the battery so fast its not worth it. Its a 4g phone but one of the battery tips is to turn OFF 4G. Also while I love the size for watching video and web surfing its quite intrusive in my pocket and holding it feels a little odd still after all these months.

I also use my phone alot as a media device. I have a long commute on the train and watch many videos. The sound on the Evo is too low (for me) i can barely hear it while im on the train while my old ipod had no problems, i actually had to turn it down on my ipod. everyone knows as a media device iphone is king there. I get a corp discount for AT&T so im actually paying a few $$ less than I was with Sprint.

Im in no way Evo bashing, and will keep my Evo active for the 30 day trial with the iphone in case I return it I will go back to the Evo, just for now I need something else for my needs.
 
No need to post that you've chosen to get something else. It's your choice to do whatever you wish. Best of luck to you...peace.

I know I didnt NEED to post this but in case other ppl are in the same boat or have a similar experience I wanted to share my story. Thanks anyway

You did good; nice post up there outlining your reasons with a bit of comparison for us.

And, as a member here, you're welcome to post in Android Forums any time you want, karong (you know that ;)).
 
dont see the point in posting this in the first place. but I wish you the best with your new phone. I personally would have tried a different droid phone first especially if battery and screen are you main concerns. on the plus side enjoy your apps!

I am in the same boat as you my friend. If I could go back, I would have gotten the iPhone 4. For its simplicity and worry free that the android phones are opposite of.

I am past the "oh look shiny new toy" part of the experience, and now I am in a little bit of regret.

Guys, take it easy though please, I know most of you love your phones and I am in no way saying the phone is not good. All I am saying is that I would have preffered the simplicity of the iPhone. I did not know what I was getting myself into when I got the Vibrant...

Good phone, love it still. But I just want something with better battery and ease of use.

Nobody is probably going to trade me, so Im sure I will be keeping this phone for the next year at the least.

If Android OS was standardized, it would have made a world of difference, none of this stuff with 45 different phone with different OS.

Remember this is just my personal preference. As like some people may hate iPhone 4, different strokes for different folks.

Just curious, if you have one phone on one carrier, how do the other 44 variants affect you?

Okay, those are shortcomings of the vibrant. But how does having 2.2.1 on my Nexus or 2.1 on the Captivate or 1.6 on the G1 change anything for you?

The argument that Android is fragmented is only a brand recognition problem for Google.
 
lol I love all the android supporters starting to get butt-hurt over a defection. Personally, the only reason I DON'T own an iPhone is because I've been with Verizon for a long time now as opposed to AT&T. I have no SUPERDEVOTION to Andriod other than it's my only choice. I dang sure would like to hear why iPhone may be a possible choice.

So unless any of ya'll actually own stock in Android.... you have nothing invested other than a "mine is #1 because I chose it" mentality

I think all the phones whether it be Winmo 7, Android, iPhone, BlackBerry or dumbphone, have their goods and bads. No phone is perfect.

Its just about a users preference.

As someone I know once said.

A device doesn't have to be the best to be your best. I don't own BlackBerry because it impresses others, I have it because it works for me.

Not sure why "I bought an iPhone" threads always turn out bad. :confused:

Choice and variety is a beautiful thing.....isn't it? Flaming someone because they bought an electronic device that better suits their personal needs isn't necessary.

karong, I would like to call you to congratulate you on your new device...but I doubt the call would actually ring through to your phone! :p

I have friends who have used Android phones and still swear by iPhone (and many friends who are the opposite). It's whatever works for you!

It's just plain silly and juvenile to judge somebody based off their phone. :)

Different people with different needs. We are not made from the same mold, so we don't have the same taste in everything ;)

My bbf got an Android phone before me, but she did NOTHING with it after the first 2 weeks. She didn't see the use of monitoring and 'babying' her phone. I would tell her of an awsome utility app but she wasn't interested. When her phone started acting up, I told her to go with an iPhone 4 since it requires basically no user 'input'. She's much more happy with the iPhone then she ever was with Android. I'm happy that she's happy and I get another cool phone to play with ;)

I'm pretty sure that the same thing happens in Apple iphone forums. =p

Everyone has different needs, etc etc. If the iphone meets those requirements, so be it. I know that not everyone will have the same needs as myself, so why should I get upset or offended if someone chooses differently?
