Root Pinging Ocnbrze

lol
i pop in there here and there. but you have a bunch of great peeps over there. i guess i have issues with letting things go. this particular forum has been my home for so long. i love you guys:) but, i will try and hang over there more.

I feel ya. There's not much going on in that forum. At least the root section anyways. That's what keeps me coming here plus I still have my Evo which isn't activated but my girls is. She doesn't do any work to her phone so I keep track of things for her. I will say though out of all the devices I've had this forum has been the most reliable and had the most helpful and friendly people.

found it (i think), well these are definitions of the jargon.

from matlock's root guide:
Click the ANDROID LINGO section or found here

I want to make a small correction / give more information.
.tar is an archive like a zip however tar copies all permissions this includes owners / users / groups that are allowed to have access to the file or files that it contains. Obviously this is OS specific. Windows does not support such an advance archiver with out a third party program such as 7zip. Linux does support it.

Also We use and say Amon RA around here. Like clockwork mod this is a Recovery Tool. This makes Nandroids which are clones of the partitions of the phone.

Thanks to 9to5cynic who searched and found this for new users :D
That's true, there really is no reason to *not* use amon ra as far as I see it. I haven't looked back since I flashed it (day one of rooting). Very first thing I did after nandroid #1...

.tgz ftw!
