I assume you meant "rom"

I'm not getting in between any rim activity between you and Ocn.:D

I'll recommend MikG either the latest stable build 2.61 or the 3.0 beta release. This rom will speed up your phone fo sho!

MikG v2.61 - [11/23/2011)
MikG v3.0 B2 [12/10/2011]

Or you could try out Tommytomato's Classic rom.

[ROM] The EVO Classic v0.0.5 - Sense 1.0 Redefined - Ecstatic - Official Nightlies - xda-developers

For battery you need a kernel. You'll have to try them out and see what works for your phone. What works for me may not work for your phone, kernels can be quirky. No way around it unfortunately. :(

Try out the Freedom agressive kernel first for a few days, then if your phone is acting funny, try out the more freedom, and so on and so forth.

If you have any questions let us know!! :D

Hello there! Welcome to the forum!

May i suggest you read this sticky? http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

Starting with the "Life after root" section?

I suggest you make sure you have the amon ra or amon ra style recovery, to start with. Changing recoveries section tells you how to do that.

Then it tells you how to make nandroid backups and flash roms.

Then you need to pick a rom. One of the Mik roms is as good a place to start as any. they are found here, http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/459584-roms-kernel-info-evo-4g.html

Get one and down load it to your sd card, the root of it, not in any folder. I usually just drag and drop it right onto the name of the drive that the sd card shows up as on my pc.

Then follow the directions to flash a rom.

Let us know if you need help, someone usually here to answer questions.

In the Rooting for dummies section and in my sig is a most excellent guide on flashing. Take time to read it and ask any questions you like. If you go to my link there is a pdf version there. You could download it and Print it out if you need a hard copy.

lol, i like my new avatar now.

and sorry op for derailing it.
NICE! Ash's Christmas Horror. I never got to check out any of the comics, but Bruce Campbell's book (two of them) are sitting within a meter of me :D

Also, I think the blame for derailing the thread would be shared among several of us lol. And the question is answered... so no harm right? ;)

Your names in the post cause somewhere I read something broke down by you in layman's terms I understood. See alot of words get thrown around in here like h boot and other stuff. Some of us don't know how to do it or what is. Everybody talks about bootloader this and that.

I guess some of these posts term cause confusion. Like from reading about roms all I understand is somehow wipe some cache I don't know how to find before I flash a rom. And I'm still not sure how to flash a rom but trying to learn

I'd recommend you check out the root guides. Full of good information. Those guides will set you straight on all this (check the sticky for links).

I remember this was quite helpful for definitions and terminology.
Actually, this one is what I meant...
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html

but that has more than definitions, I don't know what definition thread I was thinking of.... They are all good with tons of info.

Continue to try and find it if you will. If no Luck we will create a new dictionary for rooters. That we can break down what it is and how to properly use the tool/ program

I apologize for not listing or linking any flashing instructions.
