Root Please help me experts!!! Newbie

Once you flash CWM you can now make your backup of your ROM which needs to be the FIRST thing you do.

If you don't know, you boot into CWM by turning the phone off. Press and hold power till the phone vibrates then press and hold both volume up and down. I press it in the center of both. Wait till it boots into the reset screen. Press power to get through the screen and the phone will boot into CWM.

If you have a ROM already installed you can access recovery through the power menu.

Once instead CWM use the volume buttons to navigate down to backup and restore and press power to select. Then press power again over backup.

Your backup will be stored on your external SD card in the clockworkmod folder.

If you go inside ROM manager and choose BACKUP through there, it will save your backups to internal SD, clockworkmod folder.
 
Make a backup BEFORE YOU DELETE ANYTHING!!!!!!

Do one thing at a time and dont rush things. That's how people turn their phone into a paper weight. Always make a BACKUP anytime you do anything to your phones system, which includes deleting system apps!!!!!

I literally have anywhere between 40-50 backups. And these are current backups for ZVD since I re upgraded 2 or 3 months ago.

I have a 1TB external on my PC and that's where all my ANDROID stuff goes so I figured, meh, why not.

I also save every version of every ROM I can. Themes not so much unless they are themes Im using.

Im a hoarder. lol I have about 4-5 sets of drivers, guides, tools, 4-5 different apk tools, yada yada yada.




Plus, why you gonna put that in her(his) head? lol.

sadly I'm having a mounting issue with my external SD ): I posted on the thread earlier. no fix I guess? I feel so naked without it and my memory is sooo limited now :/ its been a few days already. cwm reads it just not the system itself. wonder if my warranty covers this? lol

This is true. But myself also being OCD the thought of NOT having at least one backup on my SD makes me shake, cold sweats, vomiting with periods of passing out. haha
 
So what's the status? Did you get a backup made?

One you do that you can use titanium to uninstall the apps of your choice.

Once you get your phone setup how you want with your rom, theme, apps etc....... Go and make a backup of your phone setup to your liking. That way if you have to use a backup you can go back to how your phone was and not have to start all over again installing stuff, apps roms themes etc....

Also don't uninstall an app your not sure about. Just ask before you uninstall. And remember you can always freeze an app. ;)

Also, If you want a rom that already has the bloatware removed as well as a ton of tweaks that improve performance/battery-life drastically, check out this rom.
ldrifta has spent *ahem* a little too much time tweaking it :P
Just always be careful, and if you're unsure about something, one of us is usually online. Any help is just a post away.

Freezing doesn't cure my ocd ;)
it may not work, but it's still there, and that bugs me for unknown reasons.

Well freezing an app when not in use but is only used every other day is more logical that uninstalling and installing every time you needed it. That's just dumb. Plus it's still there if you keep a backup of the app. Lol. So there's no difference.

For instance Yahoo mail. I check Yahoo mail twice a week at most. Under 2 seconds it's frozen or thawed and out of sight. I'm actually ocd and it doesn't bother me, mainly because it's out of sight. Only being visible through an app doesn't really trigger ocd. Now if its visible in the app drawer but permits no use then that's different cause it's there in front of you. My thoughts at least.

also that folder that is named CLOCWORKMOD ON YOUR SD CARD IN THE EXTERNAL SD BE SURE TO MAKE A COPY ON YOUR PC OR LAP TOP . THIS IS SO IF YOU EVER MAKE A MISTAKE AND WIPE SD CARD U ALWAYS HAVE THIS BACK UP TO PUT BACK ON YOUR SD CARD AND flash back into business . AND THIS WILL ALSO KEEP U IN THE GOOD AND GREEN LIGHT IF YOU HAVE TO RETURN THE PHONE CAUSE U HAVE THE BACK UP OF THE ROM U USING .
 
Oh wow thanks..I'm gonna try that...but how can I change fonts and themes and sounds and icons? You guys are so cool...lol....I'm learning ;)

just look for themes within this forum for ZVD, themera usual add sound and font changes to them. now if you want to learn how to change font yourself then that's a different story. I recommend using UOT, its easier for noobs
