Lurker
So i rooted my phone with unrevoked way back when i first got the phone. I later updated it somehow to a different rom via clockwork app.

As it stands I am currently running the following:

Android version: 2.3.3

Baseband: 2.15.00.09.01

Kernal Version:
2.6.35.10-gc0a661b
htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
Tue Jun 14 23:58:32 CST 2011

Build number: 4.24.651.1 CL61076 release-keys

Software number 4.24.651.1

Browser version webkit/533.1

Pri version 1.71_003

PRL version 60686

my hboot is at supersonic-0.97.0000 rom version is 4.24.651.1

I wanted to update to the express rom that's out, but i found out my s-on is still not s-off. I intended to turn s-off by running revolutionary and it told me my hboot supersonic 0.97.0000 is not supported at this time. So I read up on other threads and it said I had to update something, but I'm not sure what. I assumed it was the Hboot, but where the heck do i go for that? I couldn't find anything during a google search. If you guys could help me out a bit I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

You just need to flash unrevoked forever in recovery. That should unlock your NAND (turn S-OFF).

P.S. This should be in the "All Things Root" section ;)

so just flash it in recovery with the .zip file right? how much do i need to partition my sd card for the express rom?

welcome to the forums!!!!!!
yes flash it in recovery.

and as far as partitioning goes, it will not matter as far as the rom goes. as you are only putting your apps ther and not the rom itself. so i have a 16g class 10 card that has an ext3 partition with 2g worth of space and 0 swap.

thanks for moving the thread. sorry about that.

for the express rom I read that it has to be partitioned. Not sure how to go about doing that. do i use windows or another app? Also how much do i partition each sector?

no worries

and you should read this guide:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

just skip the rooting part and go to the after root section. there is instructions on how to partition your card.

also i would suggest that you ditch rom manager and even clock work mod recovery as well. both are glitchy and have been known to create more issues then it is worth. switch to amon ra. the instructions on how to change recoveries are in the guide as well.

Yes with the express rom you want at least a 256meg ext 3 but i would do 1g The rom is large and some of the rom will go to the ext along with the themes i believe. When I was running that rom and did a nandroid it was just under 700meg with no added apps. The link Ocn gave you will tell you how to do it.

well i didn't partition my sd card, but i have an 8gb card so maybe it didn't need it. i have the rom up and running. pretty neat. definitely a battery drainer though.

The reason partitioning your card is required is because the ROM is nearly too big to fit on our phones. You will have very little internal memory for apps if you do not partition it.

Once the internal memory starts to fill up your phone will become very laggy.

i don't use many games or other apps to be honest, so once i loaded everything that i use from my other phone on... i didn't have any issues with space. I'll take that into consideration though and try and figure out what i need to do to finish the partition.

Does it have to be partitioned prior to flashing?

I would recommend partitioning prior to flashing. It keeps problems from arising out of the partitioning. Also FYI, Emails, Facebook, Web browsing, Text, and MMS will fill up space rather quickly. So being Partitioned helps keep more space in the internal. You will want to wipe cache / dalvic atleast once a week.
