Root Please Help Me..

I bought a samsung galaxy prevail , wanting to root it..
I didnt know that if you update it past 2.3.5 , you cant root it..

So i would REALLY appreciate it if anyone could help me

1:reset my phone to 2.3.5 with ODIN
and
2:help me root the phone..

Please help me.
 
If you've already used Odin then you're already there. There are different Odin images in the Odin thread. Use the latest one with CWM. If you have CWM already on your phone then get the latest CTMod and put it on your SD card and flash that from CWM.

Go to the CTMod thread for detailed directions.

If you do not have CWM then get an Odin image with CWM and use that before flashing CTMod.

There are other ROMs besides CTMod. If you're so inclined use one of those instead.

rooting lets you do things that you can't do in a stock phone. lets you run mods and kernals and have cwm, expand the memory, overclock, add and remove what you want,ect... the ability is now endless.
 
i got it... and could you help me with putting koumakernel 2.5 on it? everytime i try , the phone bricks and i have to reset and re-root it..

Just flash CTmod 3.68 and KK 2.5 will be included. Simple as cake pretty much.

What steps did you take? what happened?
 
i used CTmod . but i dont like the look of it.. and the keyboard.. and that you cant use live wallpapers.. i just tried to get it from koumajitsu's post.
I dont know why. I just like gingerbread better :p

if i installed kk 2.5 with clockwork , would that work?

Kk does not work with the stock ROM. If you want that, use half ass ROM. It's stock made to works with koumakernel.

And if you add back livewallpapers.apk to ct mod, it works just fine

Use half ass rom. It is stock modified to work with kk2.5
 
honestly , i have no clue how to put .apk files back on the phone :P

could i also get the old keyboards back (droid keyboard , swype ,ect.) with .apks?

Just add live wallpapers with the removed apps zip, also add the CTkeyboard from the same list, I hate the ics keyboard too

copy to sd card and then flask in cwm, open it first and dump all that don't want or install all then use a file explorer to get rid of all that don't want.

The same way you installed ctmod. install zip from sd
Choose zip
(Select half ass)
Select yes

OK, you will get the help you need, but let me suggest to slow down a little and soak more in. You have put on CTMod and didnt like it, but you dont know how to add Apps from the removed App list. Well the list and the directions are in the CTMod thread in the original post, So you flashed CTMod on your phone and havent fully understood what there is for it and how to work it to your advantage. Go read the thread and look for the list and the directions in the first post.

Can you copy/paste?? Well sure you can!! So guess what? you can add the OG live wallpapers and the OG keyboard, but ya just dont know it yet. So like I said slow down and soak it in and read read read.



Anyways if you "had" CTMod you flashed it. CWM install zip/ choose zip.. etc.
See you know how already but got ahead of yourself. the lingo is confusing at first. :)
 
Also this sounds like the cheesy sales pitch after my thread today (I'm not trying to do that) But you are the perfect canidate for this problem..

So, please, please, please tell me you have made some sort of backup already? It saves from having to use ODIN 3-4 times a day lol.
