Sure. If this doesn't work, you will likely have to just flash the RUU file through hboot and take/send it in with s-off. They likely won't have an issue with it as its a hardware problem you need fixed.

what does it do? is the file on the root of the card? no folders?
are you using a mac or pc? when you look at a file in your computer does it show the extensions or does it hide it?
pull up a folder with some files and see. are you adding a ".zip" to the name"
what size card do you have?

ok that is what i thought the evo for some reason has issues with 2g cards for things like this. do you have the stock card some where? if you do use that.
yeah you will need a bigger card. do you know someone who can lend you a card temporarily? you need at least an 8g card.
ok go ahead and transfer the PC36IMG to the card and cross you fingers.

it didn't go to a black screen with writing or one with a red triangle? Did it go back to fastboot like before? Try and reflash the recovery again with the different card.
nice that is what you want select yes and you will get amon ra. then you can then flash the s-on tool
interesting. so you flashed the s-on tool in recovery correct?
