Root please help with flashing kernal

i posted this in the other forum but i wasnt sure if it was the right place so i apologize
im sorry to be that guy but i rather ask then but you guys about a bricked phone. i used this guide to root:

Im on the newer 2.2.2 v. i would ideally like to have ics in someway if possible but a simple kernal flash is ok. i want to oc my phone and im aware of how far i can push the cpu. im confused as to weather or not what i can flash with 2.2.2 optimus. i am new to this so a nice explanation would be cool so i dont have to be a bother. thanks guys.

i need a step by step. clueless when it comes to flashing. also, how can i back up contacts?
 
it just sits there at 0. it places a file on my sdcard saying backside but it has 0b next to it. pretty sure its a blank file. dont know how to tell. ive been using opera which has worked fine on my phone until this file.
 
Quatrimus doesn't like to be overclocked.
Try Paranoid Android. Just google: Paranoid Android Optimus V
 
It has been ported over to our phone by Curious Noob. You can use it in tablet mode which I really like when exploring the settings menu, or phone mode.
Check it out. Make a backup of the one you have installed now, then flash Paranoid Android.

The neat thing about having a custom recovery is you can flash ROM's very easy. You can try every ROM out there, including the New JellyBean ROM for our phone.

This is why I laugh when someone asks what we think is the best ROM. What I like may not be what they like, and the best way to find out is just to flash and try.
