Root Please help with rooting

Hey guys I know there are probably a million threads for my problem but here goes. I own a droid x, I just recently updated the software to 2.3.3. I also only an apple iPad 2 and wanted to root the droid so that I can use my ipad anywhere.... I've tried to root the updated version of my phone but nothing works. Please any advice or help or links to the answer will be greatly appreciated.

Although I don't support rooting your phone so you can wirelessly tether illegally, what you're going to have to do is SBF back to FroYo, root that, and stay on FroYo. Wireless Tether doesn't work on Gingerbread.

wireless tether does work on GB, unless p3droid removed the fix, or you can use CM7 it has the wireless tether available.

do what z0mb13m4n said and sbf back to foyo, root it, install dx/d2 bootstrapper, then flash cm7 and you should be ok

Will your iPad2 tether via bluetooth?

I can tether my Moto Xoom to my Droid X using bluetooth, and root capability is not required for this (nor does it have any of the controversy regarding tethering since its functionality is provided right out of the box by Moto and VZW).

That might be a simpler way for you to go...

Yeah, WT works on GB, you just have to know how to do it and where to find the files. It's been a bit of a controversial issue here, of late, which is why you have folks reluctant to talk about it.
