Im trying to root an EL29 epic 4g touch for a friend, and i tried flashing the pit that was given for this particular phone and now it wont even boot... I need the pit file to restore this phone!! Please help!! Im rather stuck!! With an inoperable phone that wont get past the screen telling me that the firmware failed :( any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm going to start reading YD, I'm completely clueless with Odin. :(

I sent out a SOS for anyone with Odin experience. Hopefully we get someone in here soon. Hang tight homie!!

What have you been able to do so far?

When you connect your phone to your computer does Odin recognize it? It may be a dumb question, but you are in download mode correct?

I'm going to look for a link to the XDA thread that should get you restored to stock.

i tried this method, and this is what i get

<ID:0/006> Odin v.3 engine (ID:6)..
<ID:0/006> File analysis..
<ID:0/006> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/006> Initialzation..

<ID:0/006> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/006> recovery.bin
<ID:0/006>
<ID:0/006>
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

I remember having that happen a couple times to me also. When you open Odin and connect the phone does Odin recognize it (one of the ports will change to yellow)?

Sorry, I am trying to do this from memory as I currently don't have my pc available.

You alright?
Sorry heavy night so a lot of this thread looked like a blur. I know these sound obvious and maybe have been mentioned but here goes.
1. Make sure kies isn't running in the background
2. If it wasn't change the USB port
3. Change the USB cable if possible.

If its anything like the international s2 the pit will be included in the firmware so you shouldn't have to worry about that. 99% of the problems I've seen with Odin have been solved by changing the connection.

i believe that i am to pit the pit file in the pit section (duh), and the tar file in the pda section. Is that correct?

do i have a bad pit file? i have only found 1 location for it so far, and am subsequently unable to get a different one to try. ive downloaded several versions of the "correct" tar file to no avail. and links you can provide?

I've never even had to touch the pit for my international. Its all been in the single firmware .tar
So unzip the firmware you get 1 file, put that in pda. Don't tick anything else except pda and press start and it should do the job

shit, i went to try again, and the damn thing wont even go into download mode.... im thinking that the battery is dead... phuckin phuck... all i get is the blue light on the top right of the device...

Yeah the pit should be all inclusive with the firmware. If you're lucky it'll actually charge without having a firmware on it. More likely though do you know anyone else with an epic who can stick the battery in their phone?
