+1. Factory reset also did not work for me. Only solution so far is a battery pull, waiting 5 minutes, and then restarting.

What did Verizon tell you? I may head to the store tomorrow too.

Anyone out there with a fix for this problem?

I was reading on another forum that in addition to the factory reset you should format your sd card. The forum is full of thank you s as it seemed to really worked for a lot of people

Got something going on with GPS and the stock motorola weather app...which I don't even have a widget activated for. The weather app has used 23% of my battery today by constantly turning on the GPS...(fresh phone from VZW yesterday and I did the full wipe of everything)

Just upgraded from 2.3.9 to the 2.3.15 TBH leak. After doing this I have lost the ability to have haptic feedback. Anyone else? Any solutions? I have tried unchecking and rechecking the option in settings, but it didn't fix it. I have also rebooted and that didn't help.

*Edit - I solved the problem, you must enable this as well, Settings>Language and Keyboard>Multi-touch Keyboard>Check "Vibrate on Press"

Yeah for me!! This was driving me crazy!!

When I first upgraded to 2.2, I had a lot of issues, many of the same ones listed in this thread. I finally got fed up and here is what I did. Almost all of my issues have disappeared (still some bugs of course) and my phone is running smoother and faster alltogether. It's a pain in the ass, but it was well worth it and I took this opportunity to root, very happy I did.

1) Backed up all files from my SD Card to my Hard Drive.
2) Unmounted and formatted SD Card
3) Wiped cache
4) Factory Reset
5) Reactivated the phone using the specific steps outlined in this thread (this is key):

Bingo! I finally figured out how to get things straight in my Droid X 2.2 update - Android Forums

6) *22899

7) Rooted without using adb

8) Removed a bunch of bloatware

9) Installed Launcher Pro Plus

10) Did a full cycle charge.

AWESOME

Well, I did a full factory reseted, formatted my SD card and re-downloaded all my apps. I'm still getting the battery manager bug, which seems to be related to having changed profiles, or coming out of the nighttime profile. A reset fixes that usually.

But now...and maybe it's just that I have a lot of apps (124) but when I go into manage applications, it will lock on the loading screen. You know how it shows them without icons, then loads the icons? You can scroll while it's loading icons and this is currently the only way I can uninstall or force close apps because as soon as it starts loading the icons, it hangs.

Really annoying...especially since I think most third party app killers have been disabled by Froyo, so the only way to kill a bad app is from settings.

On the other hand, doing the full reset did fix really bad stock browser force closes and some other bugs - anyone else been getting something like an app tries to get to another screen, and then you just see the name of the app flash a couple of times in the upper left? Still getting that with Skyfire even after my reset, it totally refuses to let me see the download page.

Oh, and how are you supposed to root without ADB? That's the only method that works right now on 2.2. That's what I did...Seems to have gone fine!

Music player totally crashes the phone. Battery pull required to restart it.
Today, out of the blue, no audio on phone calls. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Rebooted yet again. Should not have to do a factory reset once a day and reboot ten times a day to have a phone that can make and receive calls and hear the person on the other end.

Good:
Volume plenty loud.
No date stamp issues in texts.
Like the camera update.
Used to work good as a phone until this morning...now not so sure anymore.

I have been having trouble with wifi. It doesn't seem to want to stay connected. I mostly notice it when I'm searching the market, but it does happen during normal web browsing quite frequently. Wifi will be on but not connected to my home network, and the only way to get it to reconnect is to turn wifi on and off again. I guess it could be related to my router but it always worked fine on 2.1 (updated yesterday).

Only problems I have are the battery manager force closing a lot and LP force closing a few times a day and needing to restart itself. Once, I was able to make and receive calls, but I couldn't hear anything. A reboot took care of that, and it hasn't happened since. Otherwise, I'm running fine.

I had to dump Launcher Pro Plus, it was lagging really, really bad. It's a nice looking app but not worth it if it doesn't work smooth, went back to stock launcher and am much happier.

I've been using LauncherPro, only 24 hours or so, but I'm really liking it. No lag to speak of and I haven't really noticed much of a drain on the battery. I'm wondering; does it deactivate Blur on the DX when LP is activated?

I just started noticing this too. The wifi symbol still appears, but it isn't connected. Toggling it off and on works, but it's a hassle. It usually happens after it's been idle for a while, I think.

Have it - used it. didnt help - what did you do with No Lock to get it fixed?

I downloaded No Lock and it wasn't working at first either. But, I set it to unlocked, rebooted my phone, and since then it's worked perfectly.

Now if only I could fix this force-closing... I tried the "Bingo!" method, but I'm still having issues. GrooveJedi, would you mind posting the link to instructions to rooting without ADB?

EDIT: Ah, I'm guessing it's this thread: http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/131395-how-root-without-adb.html

Well, I installed Big Oven yesterday to try and see what I could find around the house to make for dinner and it locked up and restarted my phone. This morning that problem came back where the music player would tell me that my MP3s aren't a supported format until I restart the phone. Anyone else have this issue with Big Oven being installed?

Mine stays stuck even after i take the battery out any suggestions?

Hi, I'm having this same exact problem. In fact, my phone isn't getting stuck at the boot screen, per se. Rather, the motorola logo just gets stuck on the screen. After a minute or so, if I slide my finger in the right place, I can act like I'm unlocking my phone, even though I can't see what I'm doing. The same goes for shutting it off. I can hold the power button for a second and then click on the screen in just the right place where the "shut off" option should be (it's right below the moto logo) to shut it off. It's really odd and frustrating and happens about 4 out of 5 times that I turn it on. In fact, it did this right after I upgraded to 2.2 using the over the air option from my phone, which had me initially freaked out that my phone was bricked.

Also, I've noticed that when this happens and I'm able to turn the phone off, the moto logo appears to be somewhat burned into the screen, kind of like what could happen with the original plasma televisions if a still image was displayed on it too long. It's only slightly noticeable, though. Oddly enough, if the phone boots up correctly and I then quickly press the power button to turn off the screen, the screen is completely blank and there's no "burned in" image (the same thing happens if I pull the battery out - there's no faint ghost image on the screen).

One last observation: if the phone is off, and I plug it into a wall socket to charge, I'll notice a similar behavior with the motorola logo. If I press the power button briefly to see how charged it is, I'll instead see the motorola logo again, rather than the battery display.

I'm curious if anyone has found a solution to this yet. Otherwise, it looks like I'm dialing up Verizon tech support...

Thanks!

Strange, but I'm having absolutely none of these problems.

Device is working like a dream, and I am power user and linux developer.

Never rooted.

Anyone else notice that you cant search for contacts to add to email or txts?
If I bring up the contact list and I use the search function, when i go back, the contact will not be put into the to field. Its just blank. Everytime, txt, handcent, email...
but if I just scroll to the name, a LOT harder, it works. *shakes head*

@exwifeusesiphone - Strange thing is that I never had the Battery Manager force close bug until I did the factory reset and rooted. It's annoying, I hope there is a fix for it soon. I am not having the icon issue on the running services screen. I have 114 apps installed and it takes awhile for the icons to load, but eventually they do. You should be able to uninstall by using Manage Services, though, no? There is a one or 2 click root method thread (originally for the Droid 2) somewhere on XDA forums. I tried searching for it so that I could point you in the right direction but I can't seem to find it at the moment. It was my first time rooting and it was really easy.

@Stealthman - I would try LPP again. Occasionally it force closes on me but the only time I've experienced lag was due to other apps. Examples - I had an earthquake app that was really cool (with widget) but after uninstalling I noticed that LPP ran much smoother again. Also noticed this after uninstalling Auto Killer. General advice, don't download too many apps at once, it's easier to figure out which apps might be causing problems and then an easy uninstall fixes it. WatchDog can help with this too. Launcher Pro Plus is pretty awesome, I suggest you give it another try!

@WeavShow - I can't find the thread at the moment, but search xda forums. Let me know if you can't find it.

This is not a problem on my X.

discovered something today about clearing cache. My phone locked up and fromze the other day and my mp3 issue came back so i cleared the cache. then my battery manager would force close, which i didn't do before. i cleared the cache again and now both mp3s work and so does the battery manager. maybe people having issues with 2.2 hould clear their cache multiple times to fix the issue...

A couple more observations after my initial post:

  • My problem with the motorola logo not disappearing after I power on my phone seems to happen most when I'm in an area with a really poor signal (namely, the building where I work). If I am outside, I don't seem to have the problem as much.

  • Also, the "issue" with the moto logo being ingrained in the screen after the phone is off may not be a real issue. The faint logo seems to slowly disappear after a minute or so. It may just be a case that since the moto logo is bright white, it takes a while for the pixels to fully lose their electric charge... or whatever it is that pixels do to light up/turn off. ;)
