Please post here when you receive ics ota

By Sprint you mean AT&T I hope. Or you really need to go back an learn your carriers lol

Agreed on knowing ones carriers. Also, the Nitro was released on Dec 4, well before our Spectrum. I fully expected them to receive the ICS update before us. It also means that we should be next on the wagon for updates, assuming VZW doesn't QA it to death for the next few months(read:find and patch every root method and stick more bloatware on it).

I wouldn't doubt that he has ICS already. On that note, I also wouldn't doubt that he works for Verizon and is on their beta tester list or that he installed the old .tot file that was floating around.

Can you say TROLL? LOL he posted again saying as much! Waiting sucks I know, but a little faith goes a long way :)

Troll here. How many times did you try before giving up?!!

I agree the waiting and silence are ridiculous, especially from a worldwide company like Verizon. My question is how do they get away with it? Oh wait, all their competition use the same customer service practices. Any other companies would be protested and/or brought before Congress.

But, sadly, there are not many options.

LMAO..I tried a grand total of 0 times. It'd be different if VZW said we PROMISE by this date the spectrum shall receive ICS or else.... But there is no breach of contract that has been committed by them, therefore making there no legal recourse of any kind, not to mention what real damages have we suffered as a result of the wait?? I will say none. In the big scheme of life a cell phone update isnt a life or death issue and congress has much more pressing issues to be concerned about...whether they are actually focused on them, thats another story lol. Sure waiting sucks, but the update is coming , 100% done deal.

I do not know all about it, but...

What about the security vulnerability that allows any app with or without permissions to access most of the SD card data (including stored backups), and then transmit the data it found to anywhere on the internet, all without you knowing it (unless you are using an internet monitoring app like onavo). Most of which is easily explained, as the permission setting on the SD card is set to read for anyone. Worst part is it affects 4.0.3 too.

Exactly. It's the same as the long explanations I have in the Rezound thread. We have even less to complain about, as out phone is newer. Be upset, be annoyed, but deal with it... If having ics was *that* important, you should have bought a gnex (not saying this to anyone in particular).

I bought the spectrum because the bootloader is unlocked, so I assumed we'd have as many devs and roms as the gnex, which is also unlocked. It's an assumption still, but I admit I made it.... I don't even know if I can blame LG for making the phone hard as shit to dev with wonky lib files and no consistency with past phones (maybe it's just above our pay grade), but still *I* made the choice to get this phone over others (the Rezound was an option I messed with).

I think it's time we all stopped being angry at vz and lg and enjoying the great stock deviations we have and the devs who are trying to give us more. ICS will come and maybe it'll be amazing, maybe shit... No one knows for sure. Either way, it's just a phone and it's way too nice out to be angry over a damn phone. :-D

Well said and I agree 100%

Yeah they notice this back in 2.x. It was 'fixed' in 3.x but the fix broke the SDCard system majorly. IE: Motorola Xoom, had read only permissions and ONLY if the app you used had SD permissions. no write perms whatsoever. couldn't even format the card inside the tablet. The stock android system didn't even have permissions. root didn't even help much. One of the key factors in why google didn't post the 3.x source code until after ICS launch (hidden in ICS commits back when it 1st went live.... git revert everything if you want it xD)

I recall the "complaining" about it in the Xoom. I am guessing that change was "reverted" in ICS?

I just don't see why important information is not stored on the system partition instead, too much Google and carrier logging in an insecure storage location... that would force them to trim their logs to prevent the system partition from filling, also decreasing the amount of logged info.

I remember HTC really dropped the ball on this one and included a remote vnc receiver apk.

Connection error?

Got this a few days ago. It doesn't matter if I rescan, it still shows a failed update on 8/2

I googled reason code 412 and found this response by a verizon rep on the verizon forum (for the Thunderbolt)

Hello happy community members,

This issue has been brought to our concern when attempting the software update. Although it has been reported, the workaround solution is a factory reset on the device. As always, prior to completing this reset, it's recommended to back up all sensitive data such as contacts and calendar entries. Below, I have provided a link on how to complete a factory reset on the HTC Thunderbolt.

http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=39075

After the reset is performed, the device would need to be re-setup for voice and data services. There is a brief tutorial that will walk through the process with you. If you have any additional questions or concern, don't hesitate to reply to this message or to that of another community member.

Thank you...

I thought factory reset on stock just wiped data/cache/dalvik? I'll give it a go if anyone wants me to.

i did a factory reset back when V6 came out and i was missing the backup thingy. it didn't change my boot animation, but did reset all data input.
