Please post here when you receive ics ota

So far I've seen revisions 5, 9, 11, 13, 14, and 15. 15 has been the rev number since July and as far as I can tell, it's the file being pulled down by people doing internal testing at Verizon. We can't get to it because we don't have the software/access to get the file.
Very nice thanks for the summary. Wish I knew when these other revs came into existence.

You realize - all they have to do is change their file naming and you wouldn't know really where they are with respect to revisions, unless you get some more inside information.

So if it hasn't changed since July, it seems one might conclude with some assurance the release is either stable, or, they've been pre-occupied with testing other phones, and awaiting Spectrum's slot (maybe based on date of phone introduction) to release the OTA.

Frustrating for sure.

LG has a very predictable naming scheme. Verizon on the other hand change their naming method once we pulled V5 of our software weeks before the release date. I'm pretty sure I won't be finding the V7 update unless I could find the names of more update files to examine.

I was so excited in July when I thought the update would come I was so excited! but I didn't come then I though oh it'll come next week then it didn't then I kept thinking that every week and its been 2 months since so I have lowered my standards to receive it by Christmas time....lol

Maybe we should contact some experts at getting files on the shadier side of Web and come out with our version before VZW ;)

I'm thinking they are using the browser agent setting to block us from directly downloading it with Firefox or chrome.

I don't doubt that, but we've had someone try and packet sniff the LG update tool and spoof the browser agent with the same results. We'd need to packet sniff what ever tool is being used to download the .cab file internally. Even then, there is no guarantee of it working.

Ideally, I'd just like to find the update.zip sitting on the Verizon site as anything after that is easy to break, including forcing it to update.

I tried changing browser user agent no go, also tried injecting packets into the LG update too. no go. Also revision 5 of the V7 update was the leak. some stuff was broken but it was stable.

Yea, because they realized the post was an error; pretty standard response on their part to fix an error like that. If you think att or sprint are any better regarding the handling of a mistake like that, you're wrong.

There wasn't an error. I was on the thread and reading the posts, then I did some browsing and when I went back the moderator had removed a post in which a member was influencing others to file claims with the BBB and FTC in regards to Verizon and LGs failure to meet the claims they made about releasing ICS. He cited all the press releases too. It was a very well written message. Well written and threatening.

Also, I don't think any other carrier would have handled it differently, but I also never had an experience like this when I was with AT&T. So I have no comparison, and because Verizon is the one putting me through all this OTA nonsense I hate them. I bought this phone because I was told I would get ICS. I should have gone with a Nexus.

Yo I gotta second that I would of never naught the spec the only thing that appealed to me was the hardware but the in store reps kept telling me it would have ics in a months time definitely... This was in February

It is 14 days for returns, with a restocking fee. The Verizon rep in the door was very pushy. I did not even go to buy a phone that day. My contract at Sprint was up the day before, I was out of town on vacation, liked the size and specs of the spectrum. I used my Sprint phone to check around and saw both root and broken out for the spectrum, then searched for ICS updates and found the spectrum on the list. So I agreed to switch (already planned on switching but had considered waiting summer out to see what new phones would come out)

6 months later...

I don't care if they update it or not any more. I'm moving on as soon as something in the right price range comes along. I cannot afford to spend over $250 unsubsidized on a new phone, without getting a decreased monthly bill to compensate over the life of the contract. (And Verizon does not do that) So I will wait for my upgrade, or buy the first decent S4 pro CPU (or S5 if they are out when my upgrade comes around) phone with decent other specs, and root, and at least one Rom. Considering how long I will have to wait to meet all of those criteria, I don't doubt it will be a jelly bean phone and that laughing licorice will be out already. My upgrade date is November 2013.

Similar situation here with me. When I was phone hunting for an upgrade, the LG Spectrum caught my eye. "The specs are amazing" I said to myself and they were indeed promising. I didn't know that it was also in line for an android 4.0 update until after I went and received it. Verizon is working on the final tweaks, so I don't mind waiting for another couple months if that's what it takes.

The only thing I'll complain about is not having S4 but that's it. Amazing specs and I'm loving how the phone boasts a rich DPI.

The screen alone makes the spectrum an amazing phone. It's been out since January and it still has the best screen in the business in my opinion. The rezound has slightly higher PPI but the spec looks just as good and has better screen tech.

When I saw my spec screen next to my sister's razr, I was blown away at how bad the razr screen looked in comparison. I also have a droid charge and I hate to even look at it now because the spectrum just owns it in every way.

LG makes very nice screens for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing their 5in 1080p phones which should be dropping in the next 6 months.

So true. When I mess around with my old DROID 2, I forget how small its screen is compared to the spectrum. A lot of people comment on how big and vibrant the spectrum screen is.

I also wanted to add that the reason why I chose the spectrum over the HTC rezound was because the Spectrum hosts very nice viewing angles. And users like me who love to use their devices while laying down, it was the ultimate selling point for me.

Even those the rezound has a slightly higher PPI, the colors are very much washed out at minimal viewing angles. Which reminds me, someone should start a phone appreciation thread. Just to boast about the awesome device. I'm getting sick of reading through posts regarding why we don't have the update.

She is a beut.

Some people really like the amoled displays but to me they are over saturated. The colors are not natural nor are they realistic. My charge has an amoled display and the colors are way too bright. That's another nice thing about the spectrums screen...the colors are spot on. Very natural and clean but still vivid and clear

From the looks of the note 2, they have conquered that issue . Plus its hd that's good for the porn, and movie watching on long flights.
