Root {PORT} Behold 2 Stock ( No Twiz w/ Root & Busybox )

I like the Behold 2 rom that BH_man made. Is there anyway that we can get the stock battery meter in this on the top screen. That samsung task bar at the top just shows different all the time and the lock screen. Right now I switched over to the Galaxy rom. That rom is great but I would like to have the vibrate and revert back to this one.

Hey BH_MAN, I recently asked for help regarding your BH2 stock rom. I was getting stuck at the Android logo. Well as it turns out, I did not have the update. So I re-downloaded your zip file and everything worked fine. Something must have happened to the files since the first time I did it.

Still no update for my wife's BH2 or myself. Remember when the time frame was Feb18-25 and here we are at Mar7?

First off I want to thank these Dev. for there hard work..
Kam187, Mastermind278, droiddev, mobileband, My420Time, rkhalil2009

Absolutely love my BH2. Super effin fast compared to just stock. Now I only have one problem that I am aware of. The txt messenger only displays ppls phone number when i am txt I don't think it syncs to my contacts even tho' I did turn on auto sync to see if it would reset itself but to no avail. Got any tip or hints on how to fix or a new messenger I can dl or how to remove this messenger and reinstall the old one if possible? Thanks once again, keep up the hard work

Just adb into the Phone and Remove the Mms.apk and Push / Install the original with the odex to match :)

@bangsters: do not go to recovery mode.
* Just change usb connecting to samsung studio, turn on usb debug. Then let your phone sleep ( not turn off)
* go to cmd in your computer, and type
1. adb devices ( just make sure your device is listed in there)
2. adb shell [enter]
3. mount(space)-(space)a [enter]
4. rm /data/system/batterystats.bin [enter]
5. reboot

p/s: your phone need to be rooted or using BH_MAN's rom before you do this

Hey there..thanks for all the help but I had a quick question. I have BH_MAN's rom installed and it works fine but wanted to try the batterystats.bin trick. I can see the file through Astro..can I just delete it through there? Or will it deletion only work through the console? Thanks in advance!

no, I tried but I couldn't delete it by using astro

yeah I ran into the same problem but thanks for the reply.

When I try to adb in I can connect to the phone and get shell but when I try to do "mount -a" it says something like it's an invalid command and gives me other options I can use (-r, -w, etc). What am I doing wrong?

I'm using BH_MAN's rom. Thanks in advance!

what did you do to fix it?

sorry for the late reply but i forgot to turn the vibration on in the Sound Profile you just gotta put it on as Vibrate + Melody for the message notifications for the Normal profile and make sure vibrate is on in the messages sound setting

BH_Man so in order to revert back to the old txt BH2 txt msg style I need reflash ODIN save those old files, root/no touchwhiz BB and then rm those txt msg and then install old BH2 txt msg?

You don't need to ODIN back to stock. There is a link somewhere to the System Dump of the Behold 2. (Here is a link from the Original Stock BH2 dump... the APKs can be found in here: http://depositfiles.com/en/files/et9bg71fp or http://yardimage.co.uk/files/Bin/ ). Just download the dump and you can get the APKs for the old MMS (which isn't anywhere as good as the Original Android one included in this port). Then place the TwMms.apk and TwMms.odex in the Tools folder of the SDK.

Code:
adb shell
su
rm /system/app/Mms.apk
[B]exit[/B]
Then
Code:
adb push TwMms.apk /system/app/TwMms.apk
adb push TwMms.odex /system/app/TwMms.odex
reboot
This should then have the old TouchWiz MMS file.

this is an awesome rom and its very fast...but for some reason i can not get vibrate to work for my messaging...I have vibrate set under the message settings and it still doesnt work

Got my Hands on the Update File's... Still working them over & going to include the battery.bin remove trick in the next release..

Thanks for the Support, Hoping to have the New update out Tomarrow at the latest for everyone..

P.S. :)

IT"S A BOY!!!

Hey thanks for the detailed layout, I know this txt msg is good but for some reason when my contacts txt me it displays the number rather than the name given to them, kind of funny trying to find out exactly who is txting me by the convo. Thanks for the quick reply.:D

Where exactly do I place these files? I did place them in my AndroidSDK/tools folder but it says it doesn't find them

#adb push TwMms.apk /system/app/TwMms.apk
adb: not found
#

I edited my original post with the instructions. I did not include the exit as I figured the then would make it seem as to exit the shell.

Since its been long just naviagate to your sdk/tools

cd c:\android-sdk-windows\tools
adb push TwMms.apk /system/app/TwMms.apk
adb push TwMms.odex /system/app/TwMms.odex
reboot

Yea that's what I did, placed it, in my C:....AndroidSDK/tools and for some reason it gave me the above, I haven't tried out just yet with the edited instructions. I'll keep you posted

Yea...it's still not working for me same thing

In fact, dude it's alright, I'm not gonna even bother with something that already works fine.

But will there be any problem removing the Youtube. or Amazonmp3 apps? or is that linked to that damn cube.

If you have the # before you type adb anything you will get not found . Don't type adb shell before any adb commands ...... adb is to run commands from your computer to your phone , adb shell is to run the commands direct form your phone ...
So just type adb devices _ to make sure your phone is connected , then type adb push ~ whatever command ....

hey what messaging app is installed? i don't think it's the behold2 messaging app...i noticed a bug with messaging. if you go to messaging directly and select new message, there is no option to select contact from address book. so you'll either have to know the phone number, email, or send message though the address book.

any fix?

Thanks Goes to Paul89 For the Dump of the Update :)

the galaxy mms because it has the option to turn of notifications if needed!
@ BH_MAN Ps. You are welcome! It's the least I can do for all the hard work that you have done! Also are you having any luck on the freakin' kernel? Because that is what we need to have 2.1 + awsome custom roms! If the kernel was made this phone would get popular very quick.

Sadly No luck on the Kernel as of yet... I did manage to get my Buddy a BH2 in his Hands, but he's not had much time to play with it. But, I think the main issue is the part we need isn't in the galaxy kernel source, but I'm still trying :)

Regarding the Mms.apk, I ask because I've Heard people complain about it, so I don't know?

But, I'm calling this Beta As there is a Ton of stuff I removed regarding Samsung app's, so not sure how this will effect the Rom in long term use. :) But, it should be fine, I've not had any problems yet :)

*Edit*
Off to my Mother for Now, When I return I'll get the Rom posted with either the TwMms or Mms regard User votes :)

Later,
~BH_MAN

this is an awesome rom and its very fast...but for some reason i can not get vibrate to work for my messaging...I have vibrate set under the message settings and it still doesnt work

For messaging vibration don't press the menu button on the home screen and to go to settings. Open the app drawer and scroll down to the setting that has an icon with a couple of sprockets. It's the touchwiz version of the settings. Select soung profiles --> normal --> edit --> message (from drop down menu) --> vibration & melody (under message alert type. To get a phone call to vibrate you can use either setting menu. I use the default androind menu because for whatever reason after you swith you phone to vibrate profile then back to normal you have to go into the setting menu and turn on vibration with melody back on. Don't really know why or how to fix this tired everything I could think of as far as different combinations between the different settings menu. Would welcome any ideas to fix this.
