Help Possible Battery Fix from HTC

But then when I exit to home or back button and go through process again (settings/switch radio band/force close) .. it shows up as GSM auto prl again..

Is this supposed to happen, or am I somehow not 'confirming' my switch to CDMA.. and how can I do that?

Also where can I view Time without Sprint signal statistics?

Thats because when it force closes the settings get reset to the default which is GSM.
 
well i dont have a issues with my battery really but what i have found out from someone sle on this forum is that my htc hetro battery fits in my evo.
 
Voicemail, SMS, and incoming phone call notifications come through on what I believe is actually called the header or carrier wave, not over data. Killing your data connection should be fine, you'll still receive your calls and voicemail alerts.

After doing the light sync thing and the *#*# thing last night, today I took my phone off the charger at 6 AM and was somewhere between 30 and 40% life remaining when I ran out to pick up carryout at 8 PM tonight and plugged it into the charger. Moderate to heavy use today - internet, e-mail (have push on for Exchange and checking Yahoo every 5 min), bluetooth (remained off except for when I was in car for roughly 1 hr), camera, camcorder, calls, texts.

VERY HAPPY. I would not have made it 6 hours with that kind of usage before. No doubt the searching for GSM was a huge culprit. As mentioned, before I was ~ 70% of the time without a signal. Today I was at ~ 9%.
 
you know how I know this CDMA *#*#6436#*#* works? i got 2 EVOs and 1 has shitty battery life and 1 has decent>good battery life.I went in on one phone, the one that had shitty battery life and had to change it to CDMA and then went into the one with decent>good battery life and it already was CDMA.

Now I am doing the HTC fix. Will report back
 
ok. so here is everything I have done since I got the evo on launch day.

Day 1: used Evo 4 hours and the battery was dead. Charged until an hour after green then used until it died. rinse, repeat 3 times.

Went on vacation and didnt use the EVO (i used my iPhone)

Today: Did the CDMA *#*# fix
then went ahead and started the HTC fix and here is where i am now:

Charge to green and shut down. takes 2:15 to go from orange to green.
Power on: Green instantly.shut down. takes 2:10 to go from orange to green.
Power on: Green instantly.shut down. takes 2:10 to go from orange to green.
Power on: Green instantly.shut down. takes 2:05 to go from orange to green.
Power on: Green instantly.shut down. takes 2:00 to go from orange to green.
Power on: Green instantly.shut down. takes 1:55 to go from orange to green.
Power on: Green instantly.shut down. takes 1:10 to go from orange to green.
Power on: Green instantly.shut down. takes 1:05 to go from orange to green.
Power on: Green instantly.shut down. takes 1:15 to go from orange to green.
Power on: Green instantly.shut down. takes 1:30 to go from orange to green.
Power on: Green instantly.shut down. takes 1:30 to go from orange to green.

hmmmm. cant seem to get under 1:00

anyone think this is still ok?
 
I see no way to add a Widget for 4G or Hotspot. When I go to Widget>Settings there is no option for either. Can someone please help? Thanks.

So if mine says Cell Standby at %23 is that bad?
 
So far the CDMA fix seems to be helping my battery 10 fold. I left for work at 1045PM and got home at 700am. I drive all around the county all night long. I only sent a few texts and made a few calls as we were busy. However, I came home with 79% battery left, which is amazing compared to days past. I will check again when I wake up later today. When I get up I take my phone off the charger and check my missed text messages and calls. In that 2 min I will drop to 90% battery. Keep in mind I get 2 bars where I live. I am hoping this fix will show evident here as well.

I will report back in the pm.
 
Yesterday there was a thread about how you can recharge your phone multiple times to somehow reset the battery to increase longevity. I've been searching but can't find it. Can someone post a link? Thanks!
 
Does anyone know if there s another option to go into the test menu? Dialing the #* etc sequence does not open that menu on my phone at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

it works. there is a slight delay between when you finish entering the code and when the menu pops up. make sure you wait 10 secs or so. at first, i didn't think it was working but then the menu popped up after a slight delay.
 
I think it was something like cahrge it untill the light goes green while it is switched then switch it off and charge it untill light goes green while switched off and charging. repeat these steps untill the light is synced green soon as you switch it off to charge and ther is no delay in the light turning green from red. i did this on my legend and it vastly improved battery life.

I waited and nothing happened. 30 seconds to be exact because that is the length of my screen time out. It went back to the main dialer and nothing popped up.
 
Finally got in the Phone Info menu.

1. Selected Menu
2. Selected "Select Radio Band"
3. Go an error htc.android.com has stopped working force close
4. Selected okay
5. Now phone is frozen on the Phone Info screen.

**EDIT Phone keeps force closing and setting preferred network to GSM. Restarted the phone followed the steps and selected CDMA auto prl. Gonna restart again.
 
The method above worked for me or at least its a great placebo...I did the charge while on then charge while off til green and I used the phone at 7:30A til 4:30P without charging, usage was very light yesterday, but thats an improvement, I believe, Sorry not noting exact usage and times, maybe someday when I dont have my grandkids over or the Red Sox aren't playing or I dont have websites to read and I dont have time to be learning my Mac (for work purposes)...LOL that was a joke kinda :)
 
Okay...but do you unplug the charger when you're green and powering on/off? Yesterday, I would charge 'til green, unplug, cycle power, plug back in. While I got green automatically when I plugged it in with power, I could never get it to go strait green when not powered. I did this for like an hour and gave up. ANYONE?
 
yes, everyone is trying this on off on off...and it makes sense that when you power off and plug in cable, that the light will be orange because you used a small amount of juice on the previous power up.

what i'm finding strange is that if my phone is off, and i let it charge until it's green, and i unplug the power cable and then plug it back in, it goes to orange for a short period of time before it goes back to green. Like a minute or so. I don't understand this because nothing has changed with the state of the battery (i.e. didn't power on so no loss of battery power).

So i don't have a chance to hit the green on and green off scenario
 
For Everyone trying to to the CDMA/GSM thing. There is an app for it in the market. Its just called.. "Network" Good Luck!
 
No. I had to figure that out too. Never unplug it.

Huge battary improvement doing it BTW. Need to continue testing to confirm just how better it is. But I had 50% battary after 8 hours last night. Had never gotten more than 6 hours on a charge before.
