Hello everyone, I have had this phone from Cricket for probably 6 months, it's a Droid Huawi Ascend M860, as of probably 20 hours ago, the phone wouldn't hold a charge, I figured 'Meh it's my charger' so I took it into the store and they told me it was my charge port... Now here's the thing, it says the batteries charging but NOT holding the charge... So it's fully dead and it's plugged into the wall to phone, and with the battery the bottom 4 icons (Phone, Menu, Back and Hang up) flash non stop for about 5 minutes and then stop flashing all together, and still won't turn on... When I take the battery out, the phone starts up and says 'Huawei' with the logo and then shuts off.... This is when the battery is totally out, I unplugged it from the phone and it stopped, of corse, but for some reason... it just won't stop loading up saying 'Huawei' and then shutting down... When I put the battery in it goes to 'Android' and then shuts down and does teh 4 lights flashing thing again.... I have no idea what the heck is wrong.... Please help =/. I work from home and my phone is needed highly ><...

Thanks.

Think it's as simple as that??.... I took it to the dude in Cricket said the charge port is broken, but if that's the case, wouldn't it not even charge, like at all? And it wouldn't flash on... /sigh. I have no idea...

Hi,

I moved this to the ascend section where folks can help you more. :)

Have to keep in mind 99% of the ppl in the stores are sales ppl not techs, so they dont really know wtf they are talking about. ESP in cricket n metro stores lol

Lol awesome, thanks Steven. My name is Steven as well, how surprisingly interesting. :P

I know they aren't techs... And I figured it was the battery since it doesn't hold a charge, I was just wondering if that was truth it or not... I spose I'll take it to Cricket today and get a new battery, or baterries plus, probably cheaper there.

Just in case it might be something else, ask the CRICKET rep to let you try the battery in their demo model for a few minutes,if they have one available.T'would suck to spend the money only to find out its something else, probably difficult @ best to get a refund on a battery.

can you power the phone at all using a usb cord? if so take out the battery and hold the power button volume up and end button without the battery in and it should goto a screen that says firmware update and it will go through should only take about five min and after it finishes it will reset and it should fix it thats what just happened to me i got my new phone through the mail and i figured one last time trying to fix it couldnt hurt and i did what i just said and it fixed it perfectly so hopefuly it works for you and you dont need to go through what i did

For sure for sure. We're getting a spare battery, hopefully some kind of a PORT to charge the battery...

It does sound like it could be your usb port is broken. Go to the store and try their battery or Batteries Plus may test yours for you.
If it is the port find a cell phone repair place it is probably a solder joint and will cost you about 35 to fix.

Could also be that the battery isn't making a full contact w/the prongs in the battery compartment.

TOKENPOKE once suggested a tiny drop of solder on each affected prong to fix this,if that's the problem.
However,if you're concerned about voiding the warranty, you may just need/want to return it for warranty service.
