Possible CDMA?

Anyone know or think the Note or some CDMA version will possibly come out? I'd like to get rid of my iPhone.

Nothing on the radar that I have seen.

Here's the thing with carriers and mobile devices.

GSM (AT&T and T-Moble) has been the worldwide standard on decades for mobile use. CDMA (Verizon and Sprint) has the lowest percentage of users world-wide compared to GSM.

Unless a CDMA carrier (or group of carriers) hands a substantial amount to R&D cash to a handset maker, they will almost always default to GSM as it has the larger user base worldwide.

Some will launch GSM and then eventually work on CDMA if a device is popular enough, but not always.

Some will make CDMA devices and never go to the GMS side because of contracts with carriers (and vice versa) to keep things exclusive.

All in all, it's not always up to the handset mfg which they will make.

In the case of the note where they made the international version and shopped around for a carrier here in the US to partner with, it happens to be AT&T.

Unless Sprint/Verizon want to pony up some hard cash for R&D, I doubt anything for CDMA will come out.

This device is not like other phones that are Hot Sellers. People are not lining up to get it. For that reason, without a carrier to back it, I doubt a CDMA version will ever land.

There have been rumors of similar devices coming but not the note.

I want to say htc and lg both had something on the horizon

Phandroid is reporting in one of it's articles that sprint employees received training on the galaxy note so it seems that one is on the way for sprint.

Sweet... It would seem that over 5 million sold of the GMS version spurred those Korean executives to get on the CDMA boat!! (I'm Korean, so nothing racial about the comment). :p

Apparently there is a CDMA version of the Galaxy Note somewhere in the world. See article, so I do not see the rumors of both Sprint and Verizon getting a Note being false.

Samsung has a hit on their hands and wouldn't want the biggest CDMA carrier (Verizon) in the USA not selling it thus restricting more money in their pockets. And if Verizon gets it, why not Sprint.

When Sprint finally decides to shell out money to pay for the device it cannot yet afford. Currently they are stuck with selling old devices to pair with the old crappy network. Maybe they can save up enough Capital to splurge on a Note offering by the end of the year. Just after everyone is locked in fresh contracts for outdated devices and the least number of customers happen to be eligible for upgrade subsidies.
