LOL no, but it is a hybrid of sorts. It's not a true gas/electric hybrid as you are thinking. My truck is a 2000 model and the true hybrids didn't start until 2005. My hybrid consists of a fully built 6.0L engine out of a 2004 Silverado SS with a Whipple supercharger pushing around 15psi mated to a 4L80E transmission with a Detroit locker rearend with 4.10 gears. Last dyno run put it in the neighborhood of about 490hp. I've got a few more things to do before the years end and the goal is to get in the 520+hp club. :D

i need to get a good car cleaning set up. whats a good wax and soap to use? anything special for cleaning the wheels? theyre painted aluminum

I'm sort of on the look out for something new, though. I'm thinking I'd like something smaller and a little more "fun." The only catch is, I'd still like to be able to haul my drums around in it and many sedan type cars can't necessarily get a 20x20 kick drum in a case through the door. The only thing that's caught my eye so far is the Honda Accord Crosstour, as its a hatchback but doesn't look so much like one, and its got a V6 (there's some of the fun factor) instead of the typical 4-cylinder sedan. Anybody got any suggestions along those lines?
 
my wrx wagon was only 26k new, i got it for 18k after trade. plenty of storage space, its fast and fun too, only complaint ive had is gas milage,i get only 25 mpg
 
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I really appreciate them and I actually do like those vehicles pretty well. The only problem is I've never learned to drive a manual and BOTH of those vehicles come ONLY with a manual. And while I wouldn't mind learning, I don't really want to learn to drive it in a brand new $20k+ car. Haha.

Despite that, those suggestions have given me some extra starting points and motivation to look around at other hatchback type vehicles [I really don't want a full-on "Crossover" vehicle]. Any other suggestions are welcome as well.
 
if youve never driven standard, id avoid the WRX completely, it has a very squishy clutch and you can't feel the engagement point well, and the tranny is very brittle so if you miss a gear at speed theres a chance you'll blow the engine.

Really? A weak tranny isn't something I would expect from one of the best automakers in the world. I don't think I've ever downshifted at speed unless I was going into fourth to pass somebody, but even then I've screamed el-cheapo Ford trannies into the red line without dropping gears.

If you're new to stick (not you gallandof, anybody else) and you can't feel the clutch well enough through your foot/pedal, here's a trick: Sit on a flat surface where your car won't roll in neutral, disengage the clutch fully (press the pedal in all the way) and put it in first. Let the clutch out slow -- if your engine starts to stall you're going too fast -- the clutch will engage and your car will start moving forward on its own with no pressure on the accelerator. That's your engagement point. Remember it. :)

I should have included all the standard subjectivity disclaimers. I love Subaru; they're not Ferarri, Bentley or Aston Martin, but I'll never be in that price bracket either, so they're nothing more than eye candy for me. Paul Hogan probably wouldn't have been my first choice of spokesperson, but I'm not in marketing either. :)
 
My previous ride was this 1979 VW Bus. It was a hard top but customized inside for camping. Had this as my daily driver for 10 years. It spent a lot of the time as shown here, on the side of a highway.

My current car is this 2008 Subaru Outback. I had the Windows darkened.

just took this picture outside of work, like how it came out :) one of my friends made the comment "watch as the Subaru stalks it's natural prey" which i felt fit the picture well :P
 
I had one on my back window for the longest time. Everyone wanted to know why I had a teddy bear on my truck. :D
 
im trying to find that sticker but have it be just his outline. that way i can hame hime on the right mirror and rally-pig on my left (outlines only)
