You are right, most nice cars are leased and financed.

But leasing doesn't mean you aren't losing on depreciation. In fact, leasing is the worst financial route you can take.

What you are doing is paying a significant amount to RENT the car. You can only drive so many miles (pay extra if you go over). Then after the 3 years, you have to give it back. You will get charged if there are scratches and other obvious wears. Then you will pay a lease termination fee.

Do you want to keep it? Then you have to finance it or pay a balloon payment which is typically still about half the cost of the original MSRP.

Yuk. Just do yourself a favor and finance or buy a reasonable used car. Then you will own it within a year or two (or right away if you saved up).

If you buy a reasonable used car at a really good price because a dealer is desperate, then you can almost sell it for the same price a couple years later! Just make sure you get it checked out by a mechanic or live in a lemon law state and have done research on past experiences of the model.

your are right, i should have worded my statement in a different way lol. what i meant was that the value of the car dont get depreciated since you are basically just renting it like you said. its pretty much a fixed price u pay aside from any damages/overcahrges you encounter.

but i totally agree with the part that leasing/financing is the worst route to go. when i was in the market for my new car, the car i want, which was a g35/g37 cost about 40k. i looked into some used ones, which was around 28k (2007 w/ 16k miles) at the same dealership. then i went to a private seller and found a perfectly maintained one for 16k ( 2003, w/ 48k miles). of course, i went with the private seller, paid 14k straight cash, spent only about 700 to fix up some paint blemishes and it was good as new. probably the smartest route i ever took.

What's the specs on those wheels n the Evo X? Also, looks good but could use a little more lower.
I already am lowered.. any lower on Michigan roads I'd bottom out and also not be able to drive in the snow.

Rims: 18x9.5 +20
Tires: 265/35/18

I have a way's to go to get it running but hey ... I have more time than money:D

This is what it will end up looking like ... after a few dollars and about 2 years...

Dude, you know how to pick 'em. That is my all time favorite M3. It is a purists car. you are lucky to have one in the shape it is in, as they are very sought after...

I was kidding about the 430...

This is my car:

Note: This isn't a picture of my car but its the exact same (same model, color ext and int, wheels, and clear lenses)

Just put an order in for the new 2011 WRX to replace this baby. I love her but Colorado winters, and out of warranty repairs are getting old... The new wide body on the WRX is going to look just like the old STI and its Dark Gray Metallic so it should look like this:

I wanted a fast AWD manual vehicle... there is not much to choose from.

Hey, My pops has an A4 2.0T with an APR flashed chip. It is not the fastest quarter miler, but from 50 mph on up, it steams. And the top end is sick. Subaru will never have the fit and finish of an Audi.... Just sayin';)

I don't understand the fascination with lowered cars?

To some extent, it makes the car sportier. My 535xi, obviously, is the AWD model. It sits close to an inch higher than a stock 535i. a 535i with the sports package is slightly lower.

It's hard to see, but the top is an M5, stock, but lowered from factory. Of course, the aero kit adds to it a bit too, but.. The bottom is the 535xi. See the wider space between the tire and wheel well? It just looks better, for some, when it's lower. Gives it the sporty look.

Why some do it to POS cars that have no business looking sporty? I dunno. But for a car that is relatively quick, there are some minimal performance advantages but major aesthetic advantages to lowering.
that evo x gsr is hot. friend of mine has a lambo green w/ matte black evo x, and its ze sex!

It's great that people use another car's name to describe a color of another manufacturer. :)

Technically speaking, a properly lowered car will result in better performance and handling. Now, my car is a little past "lowered" status, but I do this because of personal taste - I know my car is not a race car, so I lowered it to the degree that I did to achieve the kind of look I wanted. I drive like this daily.

An older shot from last year for a calendar.

other then a sports car, beats me.
what i really cant understand is a lowered pick up. why?
now you have a two seater truck that cant haul anything and isnt a sports car. what good is that?

Should have new pics of the mustang this weekend with the new bumper I just put on

Seperate note, I'm looking to get a sportbike and cant decide between a Yamaha R6 or GSXR 600, any one own either and give recomendations.
I personally like the gsxr obviously. I just think the gsxr is more comfortable never been a fan of the R6 but cant really go wrong with either. I had a cbr 600rr before the gsxr and loved it. My next bike is going to be a CBR1000RR

well i dont know the exact name of that green that was made for the lambo ( looks like a lime green). i called it lambo green because the green he used is the exact green paint from the lambo factory. paid a pretty penny for it ( to be exact, almost 2k just for the paint itself ).

I don't understand the fascination with lowered cars?

lowered cars makes the stance a lot more aggresive, and with the right set of wheels, it really sets off the car. a lot of cars in my car club are lowered, but i just cant do it to my car. ill scrape everywhere in nyc. also lowered car reduces body roll, and depending what you are dropped on, it can stiffen or soften the suspension:

the subaru WRX STI has about 100 hp on an A4 though...i would take an STI over an over priced A4 any day

Sure, if that's all you acre about is power. But if that's the case why not buy a Neon SRT4 and mod it? Personally, I prefer luxury AND speed. Based on fit and finish I happen to think your STI is overpriced even though the A4 is more expensive and before you get all in a huff... I've owned both so I'm not just being a fan boy. This is my 4th Audi and there's a reason I keep coming back to the four rings after having driven/owned just about everything out there... modified and stock.

Why stop there.. if you want performance and luxury, don't settle for a problem laden VW/Audi (been there done that).. go for a Mercedes.

I'd take the STI or Evo over an Audi A4 any day of the week.

Problem laden? That's hilarious. Just the fact that you lump VW & Audi into the same group tells me you don't know what you're talking abotu and are only parroting what you have heard. You can't group VW in the same category as Audi and I don't care what anyone says about them being the same cars becuase they aren't. They share platforms and that's about it. The rest is all proprietary and I can tell you that Audi is substantially better than VW. We briefly had a brand new VW Jetta in 2002 and in the short period we owned it it had nothing but problems. Despite everyone saying it was the same thing as an A4 only more expensive we went and got an A4 and got rid of the problem laden VW. Nothing but good things to say about that Audi and each one since. The only issues we had were a few small issues on an A6 we had but I wouldn't say they were abnormal or excessive. Compared to other makes we've owned even the most problem laden Audi we've had has been a dream. No problems on any of the rest.

Just like Honda's never have problems and imports are more expensive to fix. Horse crap. I also love how you select Mercedes Benz as being more trouble free than Audi. I've owned all vehicles in question and I certainly wouldn't say my Audis have caused me any more issues than the others. In fact, I would say that my Audis have been more trouble free than most of the others aside from the Toyotas and maybe the Lexus. Troubles aside Audi makes some of the best interiors in the universe and especially for the price tag. The fit and finish is impeccable and if you spend any real time inside your car and care about all the creature comforts and whiz-bang features it's tough to beat the Audi line.
