RICERS!:mad::eek:

I would rather spend $70-75k on a BMW M3 with options then drop a new engine into an old car.

Sadly, the E92 M3s supercharged can't keep up with ZR1s. Now, if we're talking all-round cars, and not just performance (stuff like practicality, maybe even the great BMW tradition) then yes, I can see going elsewhere. But chipped 335s keep up with supercharged M3s in the quarters. Afterwards is another story, but....it is a slight blemish on the otherwise beastly M3.

I think Ricers give all of Japan a bad name. There are plenty of performance cars from Japan, or Asia as a whole, yet all we think of is a RX-7..great...in neon green with six exhaust tips sprinkled all over the car and a ignorant chode thinking he'll beat anyone with it.

Not that I'm a know-it-all, but I certainly don't run around challenging people willy-nilly.

Ohh, so kinda like halos on BMWs?

no way like the halo lights. it just illuminates the projectors itself with a LED. my car is going in tomorrowto have them redone to a newer version since one of them blew out, so ill take clear pics to show you what i mean :) now i just need to think whether to stick with blue or go with another color...

whats wrong with rx-7s? i love that car :( i wish i was able to find a clean one here.

as for the argument of dropping an engine into an old car or w/e, some people feel they have something more accomplished when they build up their cars to be as fast as a supercar rather than just buy one off the dealership lot. some people just enjoy working on it, and seeing the face of a lambo/ferrari owner when they get owned by a 1994 supra. honestly, i dont think spending 15k on engine work on a car can be justified as being called a ricer. now, adding lambo doors, a 10 foot wing, spinner rims, vents on fenders with 1000+ stickers is a different story...

and your right, it is NOT the same as a 100k+ supercar. but im sure whoever is working on their car based on pure performance couldnt give 2 craps about it. i mean they give up a/c for a big turbo, remove power steering, remove back seats for weight reduction, even give up airbags. im sure their point wasnt to make it comparable to an aston martin or a vette.

to be honest, i would choose a twin turbo mk4 supra or a r34 skyline over a m5 anyday...more uniqie, more power potential

Dropping $15K into your shitbox Civic or Evo is not the same thing as a supercar, whether it be a $100k ZR1 or a $200K Aston.
An Evo only takes a few bolts-ons and a tune to keep up or beat lap times of a GT-R, and the GT-R is right on par with the ZR1 around Nurburgring. For less than half the price you're making ZR1 owners whine and cry on forums trying to defend their purchase.

And here is my "baby" hehehe :)

She can do just over 230 Km / Hour...

Im not much of a performance guy, in terms of racing and all. But performance in terms of dropping jaws of some punk with a crappy Civic, then yes I will :D.

Evo vs Subaru

With about $3k, it is about the same track times.

You're missing the point. Upgrading every performance component on an Evo only results in one thing... a faster, better performing Evo. Congrats!

But at the end of the day you're still driving a four door Mitsubishi with a grocery-getter interior. Even if you took away the 900 lb advantage that the Evo has over the GT-R, it's not in the same league.

Obviously. All we were talking about was performance, not how nice of an interior or exterior you have.

Fair enough. I'm a Mustang guy. And the debate with the blown GT vs. GT500 still rages on. I mean, it's not hard to make my SOHC 4.6L put down 500hp at the tires, just like a stock Shelby GT500 does. Add some suspension/brakes and it handles almost as well.

But a cast-iron (aluminum for 2011) 5.4L has a lot more headroom, whereas the 4.6 is pegged out. Mine sits at 430rwhp just to be safe. I'm not ready to swap dampers until I have some forged internals.

Can you mod a GT to be as fast as a GT500? Sure. But you're still driving a modded GT. To some people that doesn't matter, to others it's the only thing that matters.

Some people prefer elegance over performance. Put a stock M5 against a stock Evo or a stock Supra. Despite it beating both, the M5 owner didn't buy it more for performance as much as he did for refinement in power as well as the luxurious interior.

As for the bold, I think your post and a few others on here's posts are simply talking about just that. I find it hard to believe they're in it just for the sake of squeezing untapped potential out of the engine as much as they are about making themselves feel better about beating a car they can't afford.

What turns your head more, an Aston or a Civic with a fart can on it? That's why the Aston owner bought the car, to own something unique and to turn heads. A status symbol. A Supra may be a status symbol, but not by a very sophisticated crowd.

And there's nothing wrong with the RX-7. Read my post again, I said it was fine. It was about the paint job and frivolous plastic parts added on. Much like what you said.

Aston DB9...or a Vanquish! Oh what lovely sound!!

Agreed. I have BMW's for the comfort factor as well. You dont want to be going fast and feel like you are on a roller coaster would you?

I see Brad posted. heh

Here's mine.

2006 GT with a Roush TVS supercharger. I can't wait to buy a 2011 GT with the 5.0. Ford is offering a 525hp option with a 1 year warranty and a 624hp option (sans warranty). I hope to buy one next year. We'll see.

what options are those? i was at ford earlier today and the only options they had was the 412hp gt, 550hp shelby gt500, or i could deliver my fully paid for stock 2011 gt to shelby in las vegas for a gt350 upgrade boosting it to right under 500hp.

I want to play, not to sure how to post pics, I'm just anther honda owner, but I have a 96 4 door honda accord, with jdm f20b full suspension, rhd swap starting next month. 88 crx sitting as a shell with a cage, old track car being redone, 94 del sol si itr swap with I.H.E and tuned on s300 173.8whp, and last a 01 cbr 929rr. I love my honda.

Here's information on the Mustang options:
Mustangs Daily Ford Racing officially announces new supercharger system for the 2011 Mustang 5.0 with up to 624 horsepower

Skip out on the GT350 package. That's a $70k car. Extremely capable car, but it's basically a Base GT stripped down with a ton of performance mods. They will be very rare but you have to be a Shelby fanatic to buy it.

A fully optioned GT350 retails for over $90k!

ahhh so its not a model option. just a couple supercharger options, that makes sense. yea they did inform me of that.

i was thinking it was a model option like the upcoming boss 302. .

for the price and time of buying a new gt(it has to be paid for) and then sending it to shelby to be fitted as a gt350 id just get the gt500 from the beginning and save a few dollars.

options i looked @ mustang gt premium @ $33,500 + shelby gt350 package = $54,000 total.
mustang gt500 @ $49,800

but im not going to get either. i was just bored and wanted to test drive the new mustang. lol

im buying a house atm, a new car is next. just not sure what i want yet. possibly an audi s5.
