How is Dirty Unicorns bro? I have a nandroid of it on my s3 but havent bothered playin around gettin it set up yet

It's nice. I'm running the 4.3 official build that EverDeathly released over in the 4.2 Dirty Unicorns thread @ XDA. The official thread for 4.3 on it's way and will hopefully be released soon. :D

Here is the link to EverDeathly's post in the Sprint section containing the 4.3 release.
xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM][4.2.2] [UNOFFICIAL] Dirty Unicorns v3.6 [7/30] (HALO!)

There has been a good bit changed with the 4.3 version. The majority of the AOKP settings are now located under settings/ Rom Control where as with 4.2 they were all over the place once you entered settings. The overall feel is nice and the ROM is stable. It is said to be more efficient too compared to the 4.2 version. I only ran 4.2 for 2 days so I really cannot give an honest comparison. I do know that both 4.2 and 4.3 are stable.

The only gripe I have right now with it is that CM changed some of the drivers and all of the custom 4.3 kernels I've tried with it result in severe color distortion once booted up. The stock kernel works good enough for me right now but I'm looking forward to the release of a custom kernel that'll work. :D

Whether you go with the 4.2 or 4.3 version, I think you'll be happy. Both are very responsive. Themes work well too. :)

Slightly off topic, but I've thus far managed to resist rooting. Are the improved performance / features worth it? I'm not really one for flashing new roms (well I wasn't in my HTC Desire days) but it was the updates and new features that I enjoyed...

Well, I do want to root at some point, to get new features and better performance, speed is the key to me along with battery life.

One of the common themes here seems to be minimalist, which I'm a fan of.

Seems like a good time to mention the app LMT which you can find a thread for on xda.

It basically is a very customisable pie creator, requires root access but it's totally awesome, even allows for shortcuts like direct message.

It does a lot more than that also, but the pie is what I use it for. Really helps keep your home screens clean.

Thanks man. I use another pie but i still like to have a dock so my family and friends can use the phone without Fing anything up lol.
I hear a lot of good things about LMT.
I stupidly bought PieControl because i use carbon rom and their pie doesnt let you add apps. To make it worse, the dev is a dick and wont answer my emails about a bug grr! :)
