no matter which browser or speed test stats. shame.

I found the same, every other forum seems fine but when I try to use this one on my phone it would just load the first quarter of the page or so and then just sit there doing nothing.

Someone else suggested browsing the forum via the Phandroid app, and while the interface is pretty ugly, it does the job!

It is ugly. Needs a white on black theme. This will also help the AMOLED screen users save battery by having all the black pixels turned off

the forum browsing is my biggest let down with my desire as it can be so slow sometimes - wifi is generally much better - 3g is often hopeless - must be something odd in way forums handle their data ....or forums dont have very good servers ?

it is an issue for me as most (90%) of my phone web browsing is forums ;)

Really? I'd say about 90% of my browsing is forum-based too, and apart from this one, I never have problems? I can only think of one other that's a bit slower than the rest but I put that down to the massive flash banners they have down the side of the page.

hi,
agree, this one is definitely the slowest - but i often find i need to kill/restart my browser to regain full speed with 3g connection

which browser do you use? ive been using xscope for many months, but just changed to Boat for a trial - seems about the same speed wise imo

APN wise ive got the mms one selected, as otherwise i cant send mms - but dont know why it doesnt show both selected? :/ should i go back to selecting the mobile internet one do you think?

im on o2 uk btw

cheers
dan

Absolutely agree.

I was having a similar problem recently on 3 network where it was as though the connection became unresponsive for 5 or 10 seconds then suddenly came to life. Once the connection responded it was fast (I get up to 6meg down on speed tests).

Changing the APN from three.co.uk to 3internet fixed the problem here.

The three.co.uk APN goes through their content filtering / transparent proxy server / NAT firewall systems, while the 3internet APN is more or less a direct connection with a public IP address and no filtering.

The 3internet APN is the one used on the 3 mobile broadband.

I don't know if o2 use a different APN for their mobile broadband dongles that may work on your handset but without the lag?

3uk
Down: 1.113Mbps
Up: 1.256Mbps

Changed the APN Name to 3internet, as per post #36 and the addition of .co.uk and my speeds have increased to

Down: 1.940Mbps
Up: 1.470Mbps

Location: Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Out of interest, how did you change the APN? When I view the details of my APN (3/three.co.uk), all the details are greyed out and I can't edit any of them?

I just use the stock browser mate.

Mine are not greyed out. I just select and edit.

I am using Gingervillain ROM which maybe the reason I can

On your APN list, if you press menu, you can add a new one and then either set it up as per the apn details found on 3's website or as recommended by the others above.
Then you can delete the one that is currently being used.

hi all,
looks like latest Xscope browser release has finally solved my forum gloom :-)
it works really well now, even on here using 3g

cheers
