o2 is good in cities but in other areas it falls behind the rest

I find the opposite.
O2's rural coverage and city coverage is poor imo.
Their rural speeds are horrendous. Their city speeds are not good either though in my opinion . Certainly not in Scotland anyway. Vodafones network is capable of 14mbps. I get a measily 1mb. If that.

Every area is different. No network is better than another on a national scale otherwise everyone would be with the same network. Each city and rural area is different. My o2 city speeds are brilliant. Better than other networks and other cities. There is no clear winner. Just subjective opinion based upon the opinionator's geographical location.

Thanks for the reply.

I have never had higher than 367kbps even with the 'H' connection. I have called T-Mobile numerous times and they don't know why, they have tried to reset it but its always the same and because its a massive ordeal trying to get the right department or someone who understands I have just given up.

I think its because I bought the phone from Mobilephonesdirect and not T-Mobile. I pay

lol at some of these speeds and im on PAYG
orange and tmobile seem piss poor for most people :(
Loving Giffgaff even more now
Oh and mine was 3rd party CPW sim free

No worries. It should work with just teh MMS one but I found the Internet kept dropping out so created that 2nd one and everythings been much better since.

Dan2 (Although Dan1 really)

Same and that they txt me when I once got close to 500mb limit been with em 3 years at that point... lol

What?

Firstly, there is no 500mb limit with GiffGaff
Secondly, there is therefore no feature that alerts you when you are close.
Thirdly, GiffGaff hasn't been around for 3 years. They launched just over 2 years ago?

T-Mobile, test done at my desk in my office in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead (West Herts), using Speedtest.net:

Ping: 81ms
Download: 1933Kbps
Upload: 453Kbps

It varies a lot depending where you are of course.

Ian

You should get better than that, see my post above, depending on your signal strength and the speed of network you can find. I usually get around 1.4mbps on H.
Did you test this when on H data connection, as that is the fastest? How often do you get H? These things will affect your speed.

I'm pretty sure T-mobile shouldn't cap your speed i never usally have problems streaming HQ youtube vids.
Are you sure you haven't exceeded any dataimits (if you have any)?

No I'm afraid he's right I got my desire through mobilephonesdirect on T-mobile and only ever achieved the same speeds as the OP I got in touch with T-mobile to query this and was told it was because I got it through a second party.Thankfully my contract is up in October like the OP and will shop around and mobile internet speed will be top of my list.

just trying out a different browser. called boat.
not heard if it before but seems quite good.

Strange as i also got my desire through a second party, mobiles.co.uk (i.e. carphonewarehouse). When i contacted t-mobile when i got the phone to enable the 3GB package and ensure HSDPA was enabled they never picked up on the fact i got it through a second party, admittedly i never told them, which is lucky as i didn't know they would differentiate like that. I would keep pushing them if i were you.

My phone came from them. I contacted the T-Mobile Twitter team and they sorted it out for me so I have Web'n'Walk 3GB/month and no speed cap (plus free land line calls).
