Help Preinstalled Messaging Program - Uninstall

Is it possible to uninstall the messaging program that came with my Galaxy Prevail? I have found a better alternative to this application.

I rooted my phone, and, since I use GO SMS pro, thought I could delete the native messaging.

Then I couldn't get MMS anymore, and even basic SMS seemed a little buggy. Had to manually replace the files to get functionality back.

I have the Captivate, but I think for the most part, this could work with other Droids too. After rooting my phone, I downloaded GO SMS too to use as my default message app. I deleted my stock messaging. Didn't realize that I wasn't receiving mms messages until my husband tried to send one from his new phone. Turns out that since I removed the stock messaging, *nothing* was handling my mms messages. I had to go into GO SMS >Menu > Settings >Advanced > Important Tips and check the box that states "Stock SMS uninstalled." This tells GO SMS to handle the mms messages. Then I was finally able to receive mms messages again. :-D
