Pricing and Release Date in the US...

Okay, so doing a little more digging, I found info on the launch in the Philippines, which is scheduled for 4/13, which is next weekend.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Launched | Technoodling

I'm kinda banking on the Note 8.0 finally being available in the US by May 1, when the Best Buy retail locations will have the Samsung Boutiques "live" supposedly. It's a little disappointing, since that's a good 4 weeks away, especially since the Note 8.0 won't necessarily be available in the US as a phone (although, won't prevent people from buying an international unlocked version to use with a GSM carrier).

The 8 sounds good. Though with the Note 3 in the almost future, I am waiting for it. Nice size though.

I'm with you...skip the "freebies" and lets get this thing under $400. I'm thinking I should have jumped on the walmart or Best Buy refurb deal on the 10.1 a few weeks ago.

Translates to $519+ change in US dollars. I seriously hope that the US prices are much less than that. It's higher than the 32gb Note 10.1!

I could do without the 60 pounds ($91+ change US) worth of extras that supposedly come with the UK version, for a cheaper overall price of the device. Without those extra "goodies" that they're providing with the purchase, the total amount would come down to $428 for the 16gb version. That's still higher than the iPad mini. I'm a little conflicted now because if the price of the 32gb Note 10.1 ends up being cheaper than the 16gb Note 8.0, I might be willing to sacrifice the smaller/ideal size for the bigger tablet, just because of the price!

There was a pretty sweet deal of the day that Best Buy had recently where they would've included the Samsung OEM book cover. Comparing online prices (out of state), it would've come to the same price. I was so tempted to jump on that deal, but held off just because of the Note 8.0.

If Samsung's justification for higher price than the iPad mini is the S-pen...I'd even be willing to pay, if it was $30 more than the iPad mini (justification on the retail price of the Note II S-Pen by itself). I'm actually even more disturbed that only the 16gb version was launched in the UK, so I hope that doesn't translate to the US only getting the 16gb version.

Samsung devices are usually more expensive out of the gate and come down in price over a few months. With an initial price of $400 I'd guess it will be down to $350 by summer and selling closer to $300 by the time school starts.

I'm not big on waiting that long though. I have to use one of my gift cards by June, so we'll see. I'm actually more interested in knowing if they're going to delay the 32gb version or not offer at all.

If I may...

Storage size isn't as big of a deal to me. I'll be throwing one of my 32GB cards in it anyway...

Hahaha. That is awesome. Storage has always been a huge factor for me and part of the reason I won't go with phones that don't have a built in microsd slot. Just judging from my Note 2, the amount of space the internal storage is used up out of the box is a lot. I could always root and switch, but that doesn't solve my needs completely. I'd much rather have additional internal storage coupled with the micro sd slot, so I never have to be concerned. Even now, I only have 1gb remaining for internal and 4gb for external (on a 64gb card)

I can't wait that long either. If I wait that long then I'll hear about some other latest and greatest that will be released soon after and I'll be waiting for that.

I wish it would have come in $50 less but I'll search for an Office Depot or Staples coupon to bring the price down or I'll order from Amazon and save the tax. I won't wait more than a few weeks but would like to read some real hands on reviews from the general consumer.

At least it's good news that it won't be much longer!

I'm sort of torn now between the 8 & 10.1. I'm wondering if the rumored $400 price tag is worth it. One of the compelling things for me regarding the 10.1 is front facing speakers. Wish Samsung had thought to do the same with the 8 incher.

Yet on the other hand the 8 could be a larger note phone. Why do decisions have to be so hard?

I am a little. Assuming they offer the note 8 in 32gb flavor, it'll basically be a choice between 449 and 499 (also assuming the pricing difference will be the same ae the note 10.1) and then also if I really prefer a 8 vs. 10.1 inch device. I'm pretty sure the Note 10.1 could be rooted and overclocked to match the 8 inch exynos, so I'm really torn. At least it hasn't been formally released yet.

Actually release date is set for April 11 at all major electronic retailers.

Like you guys, i'm torn on this. At $400 I can find a deal on an i5 laptop or get an i3 for $300 and put an SSD in there with the difference and just hold onto my Nexus 7. The other option is to find a deal on the 10.1.

I'll try to hold out to see if the price drops the first month or so if not i'll move on to the next one...bummer, been waiting for this since it was rumored.

Huge difference here. If you need a laptop, get a laptop. Right now, a tablet is unlikely to replace everything you need to do. They're still completely different markets.

On the topic of the Note 8, I'm going to pass on this one. $400 is just too much. I regularly see 10.1 on Craigslist in St. Louis for $400, and i could easily talk them down to $300 or so. Hard to justify getting "less" for more.

I'm almost tempted to get the Note 10.1 for 100 bucks more now, which is the 32gb version already. Only thing that holds me back is the form factor in the Note 8.0. It's the perfect size.

I hear ya, 2 different markets but still something to consider when dropping 4 large, especially when I have to tell the wife how much I spent!

Looks like we'll be getting a 10.1!

Only thing that will push me towards getting the Note 8.0 is due to my Best Buy gift cards that have been sitting around waiting to be used (almost pays for 3/4 of the cost).

Well, I'll wait and see if Samsung announces if the 32gb will be released in the US. In fact, the mall nearby has a Samsung booth area, so I might just go there for lunch today to see if they have anymore info or have any Note 8.0's on display.
