Pricing and Release Date in the US...

Ouch... that price is a deal-breaker, and also the battery life (based off of early reports)

It's gone from a "Day 1" purchase, to "let see what the next Nexus 7 is going to be like first".

If Google can somehow stuff 64GB of internal storage on a high end version of the next 7, good-bye note 8!

It's just a pre-release notification. I'm slightly disappointment. I was hoping to see, at the very least, both the 16 and 32 gb versions, while hoping to also see the black version available at 1st day of launch.

Part of me is hoping that people will see the price tag and not purchase for the first month and it'll force Samsung to adjust pricing, especially when/if the 32gb version gets released. If this were the 32gb version, I actually wouldn't even mind paying $399.

Newegg changed the page from what I posted earlier where you had the option to add to your cart. I should have tried it but next thing I'll be doing is going through with the damn sale!

I think i'm going to post my N7 tonight and see if i get any hits on it. That will help lessen the pain if I jump.

I thought about it and, I realized that Samsung isn't using the Note 8.0 to compete with the iPad mini. They're just hoping dopes like us actually shell out the $400 for the 16gb version. I think their true competitor to the iPad mini is geared for the Tab Plus that was being talked about for Fall launch. The Tab 3 is supposedly releasing in the summer.

Such a shame because the Note 8.0 could make a killing in sales, had they priced it fairly.

Only thing that will push me towards getting the Note 8.0 is due to my Best Buy gift cards that have been sitting around waiting to be used (almost pays for 3/4 of the cost).

Well, I'll wait and see if Samsung announces if the 32gb will be released in the US. In fact, the mall nearby has a Samsung booth area, so I might just go there for lunch today to see if they have anymore info or have any Note 8.0's on display.

Or you could use those gift cards and get the 10.1.
Starting at $400 what device is Samsung competing with if any? Def not the iMini.

With the Note 8.0 purchase, Samsung is throwing in 50GB DropBox storage and $25 Google Play Credit.

Lol...I'm still considering it. But note 10.1 is 499 for 32gb at Best Buy.

I'd rather them drop the extras and price cheaper. Dropbox is only 2 years worth of storage. $25 Google Play credit I don't mind, but still don't need that either. Now, if they added a book cover at 399... then, maybe I'd consider. Still, I'm holding out till they comment on 32 either being available or not.

This is a comment I posted through Disqus on one of the reviews:
If this came in the 32gb internal storage flavor, as well as offering in black (to have a choice), I think the $399 would be a "no brainer." I think Samsung needs to drop the 2 year 50gb Dropbox gift ($100 value, based on current dropbox pricing for 100gb @ 99 per year), the $25 Google Play store gift, as well as the 1 month Samsung Music hub streaming (There's a free 30 day trial anyway, but pricing is 9.99 after the trial period). Take the price of all of those combined and they can drop the price to $264! People would without a doubt pay that price (myself included). I wouldn't even wait for word on a 32gb version, if that were the price.

I honestly think Slashgear is mistaken regarding the 50GB of DropBox storage.
Samsung doesn't operate in that fashion.
It's always been additional storage with no "new" member limitation.

I think so also because I got the 50gb with my International Note 2. Thing is, I didn't get additional 50gb for my Sprint version.

Okay, one justification I'm giving myself for actually getting the Note 8.0 is the microUSB charging port (rather than the one that's on the Note 10.1). That definitely is a plus, especially if I use the tablet in my car.

As silly as it sounds, it works for me too! LOL!!!

the price is about $100 too high to actually be competition for the things it's supposedly competing against.

Yeah, part of me feels like they took the same viewpoint as they did with the Note 2, where the subsidized price was $100 higher than all of the other high end smartphones on the market, making the justification purely based on the s-pen integration.

The most frustrating part of this is that I truly have loved the Note 2, since first purchasing it and was looking forward to spending less money (than the ATIV PC tablets), by getting the Note 8.0 instead (especially after twospirits mentioned it being rumored). Had I known the Note 8.0 pricing a couple weeks ago, I would've jumped on the Best Buy deal of the day that included a book cover with a Note 10.1 tablet purchase.

I seriously have to have a little constraint on this one. The more I read articles, the more I want to swoop this up, despite the disappointing price and no mention of a 32gb version becoming available later.

Came in here to post it and you beat me to it. Really, really, really considering this.

I don't need it, but I've wanted it for ages.

I just got another Best Buy gift card, so I may end up justifying purchase of the Note 8.0 now (despite the whack price tag). Only thing realistically holding me back now is potential for them to drop the price, after release, and also the possibility of the 32gb being released and/or the black color way.

Drex

I would hold off for 4/6 weeks and see if the price comes down. I've seen so many comments that the price is too high, I think retailers will see sense and price it accordingly. No point having surplus stock because of a silly RRP

Yeah, I likely will hold off (especially because I prefer getting a higher internal storage version, assuming they even release that in the US).

Ughhhhh! I wish I could remember where I read this but today I came across a review which stated there wasn't going to be a release higher than 16GB.
