Pricing and Release Date in the US...

if you want a large phone, get the Note (1, 2, 3 - it doesn't matter, tbh), if you want a small tablet... they JUST RELEASED the Note 8.

the mega doesn't have the SPen, so it might be that it'll have a much nicer display or be significantly cheaper, because they didn't have to include all the SPen tech.

but yeah, i agree with you guys. what niche do they think exists that isn't satisfied by one of their current lines?

One day.....Sammy will realise that it would be a good idea to launch their products more professionally.

The Note should have been released in both colours, 16gb/32gb storage, available in all countries and at a sweeter pricing point.

One can only dream that they will get it right for future releases. In the UK, its only available from the flagship Experience Store in East London:(:(

Miss D I couldn't agree more. The other thing that bugs me about "releases" is even though a device is being released in various countries we assume all those countries will receive the same device.

We see 16/32/64 believing we all are getting all 3 storage sizes when in fact we get 16. 32 goes to another country and 64 doesn't get made or if it does it becomes the developer edition.

I call that crafty number deception.

I'm 100% confident that potential customers would jump on the chance to have extra storage.

Sammy would make a killing and there would be no need to have numerous posts on numerous forums asking when the larger storage devices are coming out.

I got a horrible feeling that the UK will only get the 16gb version.

Talking about bizarre (slightly off topic;) launches. ..Sammy have just announced the launch of the Mega phone in the UK. Its got a 6.3 inch screen and is duel core. I can't keep up with them lol

Girl. ..Who you telling!!!!! I'm SO lost AND confused regarding the "Mega."
What's is purpose? And who would want it?
I know I don't. The screen size is more than appealing but other than that I just don't get it.

These ladies summed up many of my thoughts.

Amazon is finally showing for sale. No tax, free shipping with my prime account. Must resist. Just sold my Nexus 7 to help offset the cost. I'm surprised I haven't already ordered it.

For those not in New York , check bandh.com. free shipping, no tax on there also. Were it not for my best buy gift cards, I might have chosen that route.

For those of you that get this device don't forget to register it on the Samsung website, they will email you a $25 Google Play redemption code. That is all...carry on :)

Another thing I noticed, when playing with this in the store, the multi-task bar can't be placed at the top of the screen (in portrait). It can only be placed to the left or right of the screen. I actually prefer my multi-tasking bar at the top, when I'm using it.

Its at Worst Buy already. It is light and thin. Perfect screen size. Will be an mini ipad killer.

But it cost too much.

I know, I posted pics in the us release thread on Thursday night. Still don't know why or how you think it is thinner than the Note 2. I don't think it is.

Here is a comparsion pic of the 2 devices in regards to their thickness. Galaxy Note 2 vs. Galaxy Note 8.0

Yeah, I didn't notice very much difference. Since you own the Note 8 now, do you notice the difference?

No sir.

Only bad thing about the Note 8.0 so far, is that my Note 2 now feels & looks like an S3 mini :p

LOL...nice. As far as dimensions, that thing is really the perfect tablet for me. I'm just hoping for the 32gb version to come out before June. If not, hopefully a price drop by then.

OMG! I just checked the pre-order pricing for the Note 8.0 at Best Buy Canada. It's priced at $429.99 Cdn! And the Note 10.1 is sometimes on sale for $449.99 (reg. $499.99)... Go fig.

Treb how do you like being able to now use the S-Pen on the capacitive buttons?

Honestly, I haven't been a big S-Pen user at all w/ my Note 2, really just bought the Note 2 b/c I liked my S3 but wanted a bigger screen, but I do plan to get more S-Pen savy w/ the Note 8.0.

Thanks for the reminder

Did we ever find out who ate all the cookies in the VIP Lounge ;):aetsch:

I read on AC that this works with the Smart Dock and the Allshare hub which I have both. It's making it hard to not buy this, just waiting for even the smallest price drop!

It should work with the all share. That is wireless connection. I could see how it would work with the smartdock due to it being thinner than the Note 2 and micro usb charger, but I don't have it to try.

If it does work, that is a definite plus.

Well, after finding out that this thing is already in Bestbuy stores, I went down today and picked one up. Love it! The local Bestbuy actually didn't even have it on display yet, so they had to grab one for me from the back.

I am really loving this tablet. I had my eye on both this and the 10.1 for a few months now, but I am pretty sure I like the 8's size much more than I would have liked the 10.1's size. I think this is the perfect size for a tablet.

I do agree that it's a little overpriced though. I think $350 is a fair price, and I'm sure it will come down to that, but I just could not help myself and had to have it now.

Congrats!

Welcome to the club

If it weren't for my wanting to wait and see if there's a delayed release on a 32gb version, I might have joined the club already too.

Thanks! :)

Treb, are you using a screen protector? Local Bestbuy showed that they had the Zagg protector in stock in the system, but the salesman and I scoured the store and could not find them, guessing they are still packed in a box in the warehouse or something. They said to try back in another day or two. I'm a little hesitant to use the S Pen in the meanwhile though. Not sure how the naked glass holds up to S Pen use as I've always had a protector on my Note 2.
