Pricing and Release Date in the US...

Ok, tested in person. It really is the perfect size I needed for a tablet and spen is even better responsiveness on this than note 2.

Issues:
Even less internal storage available than note 2, despite 16gb. This thing really should have a 32gb internal.

See the 9.14gb available at the bottom? That means bloat and system takes up 7gb of space?...wth?

So, I am definitely holding off. I really hope Samsung releases the 32, otherwise I might just end up getting the Note 10.1 32gb on the next sale.

I like how it looks, thanks for posting the pics.

How was the performance? Did you ask them if they were coming out with versions with more memory? Different color, I think I saw a black one but don't know if that was a rumor.

So that gives us another reason to wait a few weeks... a) for the price to come down, b) for them to release it in black. And if you're Drex, c) for them to release the 32GB version. :)

Performance was great out of the box. Most difference I noticed from note 2 was spen performance, especially with use on capacitive buttons. Didn't ask anything of anybody and nobody came up to see if I had questions.

Black one was rumored and pictures displayed, but there were never confirmations from Samsung directly.

I really hope they release the 32gb. Worth only 9+ of usable internal storage, that won't work for the apps I use that store video on internal and can't identify sd. If course rooting is an option, but out of box tasks are always my primary concern beforehand.

Best Buy. I woke up today w/ no intentions of getting it, but fell in love w/ it.

So, whats the verdict? Are you hopelessly in love and dancing on air or heading for Ebay:D

We need lots of photo and a mini review...no pressure. Thank you.

Sorry...no. But I'm very happy so far. Note 2 owners will for sure love this device.

Yeah, I really like everything except the storage and price.

Now, Mr. Ed mentioned a possible Sprint version, so I hope that releases in time for me to swoop that up instead. But only if it can be connected as phone.

In love so far. I said I would never buy a tablet, but come on this thing as a giant Note 2 ( which I own & love ) so I figured what the heck. My plan is to see how much I really use it over a 2 week period, if not enough I will ebay it while I can get some good $$$ for it.

I'm not much of a review guy, I'll save that for the professionals :p, but if you love the Note 2, S3, & now S4 design this might just be the tablet for you.

I've got the GS2, Note 1 and 2 which I really love but I was hoping that the Note 8 looked more like the 10.1

Anyway , I'm going to price watch for the time being

went ahead and bought one as well. got a few personal pros and cons.

Cons, for me:

  1. battery isn't what i'd expect out of a tablet - 40% drain from noon til 8pm with moderate use. may improve after a few power cycles, we'll see
  2. the camera doesn't have a flash - not a deal breaker, but still... why not?
  3. the camera sticks out of the back of the tablet - not that it matters, as most will case it anyway.
  4. both speakers are on the bottom of the tablet, making them on ONE SIDE when you hold it in landscape mode - this is just terrible design, who does that?
  5. i'd personally like the IR beam on the top instead of the side, and the headphone jack on the side instead of the top - but i think that's a personal preference thing.
  6. should have released a black version at the same time.
Pros, for me:

  1. MicroSD slot makes up for any kind of internal storage shortages, though i don't disagree with those who'd want more internal storage.
  2. THEY GOT RID OF THAT DAMN PROPRIETARY PLUG, it's a standard micro-usb charging port now, and it supports OTG cables (Amazon.com: eForCity Micro USB OTG to USB 2.0 Adapter: Cell Phones & Accessories) that you can plug a flash drive right into
  3. the SPen, for those who haven't used it, is pretty much the best thing to write on a tablet with, ever.i'd never used one, other than in-store, and what good is that, really?
  4. multi-tasking is awesome - lacks some customizability, but it's got the essentials with Maps, doc editing, chrome and all the spen software.
  5. the IR beam is pretty sweet, i had no trouble getting it to control my TV or my DVR.
  6. it's small enough to shove into a (back or jacket) pocket, but large enough i don't have to zoom in to see a webpage. i know that's what's nice about ALL 7-8" tablets, but i only had a 10.1, so shut up.
overall, it's a really solid tablet, at least for me. i can just throw my media on SD cards and go to town. i won't be watching movies and listening to music at the same time, so i don't, personally, feel the need to keep them both on the tablet. it's only been a day, i haven't had a lot of time to discover any bugs or things that really annoy me yet, but i'll keep you all posted.

edit add: to all the reviewers who complain about it being plastic: do you ALSO complain when your "premium materials" phone gets put into a *gasp* plastic case? no, you don't. so get off the "ermehgerd it's PLASTIC" horse. i plan on putting one of those nice flip-covers on it anyway, so who gives a crap if it's got a plastic back? i'll never touch it anyway.

yeah, i know that's not directed at anyone here, just had to get it off my chest.

One day.....Sammy will realise that it would be a good idea to launch their products more professionally.

The Note should have been released in both colours, 16gb/32gb storage, available in all countries and at a sweeter pricing point.

One can only dream that they will get it right for future releases. In the UK, its only available from the flagship Experience Store in East London:(:(

Miss D I couldn't agree more. The other thing that bugs me about "releases" is even though a device is being released in various countries we assume all those countries will receive the same device.

We see 16/32/64 believing we all are getting all 3 storage sizes when in fact we get 16. 32 goes to another country and 64 doesn't get made or if it does it becomes the developer edition.

I call that crafty number deception.

I'm 100% confident that potential customers would jump on the chance to have extra storage.

Sammy would make a killing and there would be no need to have numerous posts on numerous forums asking when the larger storage devices are coming out.

I got a horrible feeling that the UK will only get the 16gb version.

Talking about bizarre (slightly off topic;) launches. ..Sammy have just announced the launch of the Mega phone in the UK. Its got a 6.3 inch screen and is duel core. I can't keep up with them lol

Girl. ..Who you telling!!!!! I'm SO lost AND confused regarding the "Mega."
What's is purpose? And who would want it?
I know I don't. The screen size is more than appealing but other than that I just don't get it.
