Okay maybe this was just a fluke, but I went to the Yankee game today and i had a -39 dbm signal while at the game. It was the first time my phone ever showed 5 bars. Is -39 even possible or was my incredible just being weird?
The OP is just a troll. He is obsessed with the call quality. I have several friends with Incredibles and we have great call quality even if our bars don't show that.
yeah, that may be true. earlier today, he started a thread to say he was going back to the iphone. so hes just here to cause trouble.Yeah, he used to stir up all sorts of sh** on Crackberry whining about reception, trying different devices and anything else you can think of and how he was always going to go get an Android or an iPhone, but could do nothing but complain about them as well. He needs to be cut off from technology as there is obviously no pleasing him. Or he needs to develop his own device.

btw, that thread was closed by the administrator.
This just in, if you do a *228 and select option 1, at the end of the call, the device will reboot, and a software update to Android 2.1 will be installed on your screen. A new feature will be the Verizon Wireless Teleport Application (VZWTA, as we call it in tech support) You will be able to travel instantaniously to any location on the Verizon Wireless network with a push of a button.

brought to you by a sarcastic VZW tech support rep on his day off reading a forum about how the magical prl update solves all. BS
Hey guys, I just posted a better update for the Incredible in another thread. This updates your PRL to include Altell towers that aren't always included in the *228 update. Go here and scroll to my post (#17) for more info:

.....(if applicable)Before: 51827
After: 51866
No change in strength. What does work is the holding it by two fingers so as not to cover the antenna...
So I updated to a hybrid PRL, noticed a slight increase in signal strength (which turned out to be it simply taking a moment to update once I removed it from my holster), and want to revert it now that I've seen the Alltel map. They have no towers anywhere near me.
Can anyone tell me how to revert to an older PRL?
from post #19.. Note: Doing *228 will overwrite the manually installed PRL to the regular VZW PRL in your area (restore your PRL).
YOUR problem is that you ARE a yankee fan. D-Backs win in 7.![]()

Tried that. Didn't work.
The only problem is that its not going to help. If you goto settings, about, network, and look at signal strength there you will get a more accurate view of your signal. The range I believe is between -75 and -110, -75 being the best. A rep from HTC said that the signal strength bars don't mean much and you shouldn't pay attention to them while you are not actively using the phone ( on a current phone calll).
you are all quite lucky, i have yet to see anything less than -95.
So am I supposed to manually do PRL updates or not? I've always done them in the past, but people here seem to be saying that they are done automatically now.
Mine is currently at 51827.
Not quite. GSM phones have their PRL updated on powercycle, CDMA phones do not. It has to manually be done and Verizon recommends doing it once every 90 days.
