Root [/~PROJECT FM RADIO~\] The quest to enable the built-in FM Radio!

there are 2 different versions of the buildprop on here this one has a + after cflags the other doesn't. which is it?

Good question. I did these instructions on my lg spirit since they are closely related. I had reception for a few seconds then nothing but no audio the whole time. :(

Hey just wondering if anybody has look at tge transmiter feature
I am pretty sure there is a very low power fm transmitter as well
So you can play phones music on your car radio and stuff like that

Is that my copyrighted commercial Spirit FM Unlocked app you've posted there ? ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mikersmicros.fm_unlock )

Is posting pirated apps allowed here ?

Is it a hacked and possibly malware infected version ? Because it doesn't seem to md5sum match to any of my archived APKs...

piracy is not allowed here, thanks for the heads up. if you find any other instances, feel free to hit the report button and the staff will quickly take care of it for you. sorry for this whole mess :)

hey guys,

so yes when we all signed up to be in AF, we all agreed to the http://androidforums.com/introductions/704-site-rules-guidelines.html#post3504. in the site rules, it mentions how pirated or illegal material will not be tolerated here.

in case you did not see it here it is:
Phases said:
Linking to pirated/illegal software: It's a shame I actually have to touch on this. Don't do it. It will be removed and repeat offenses will result in a ban.

i had to do some cleaning up a bit and removed the link and any mention of it.

thanx for understanding

How do you guys know you are getting a signal?

I know I am, because seek gives me a station. Just wondering if there is an easier way?

EDIT: I rebooted, and now it doesn't do anything :/ don't know what I changed.

I was sent a debug log from this phone and here's what I posted on my XDA thread:

AFAICT FM is not possible on this phone.

The OEM API is not there, but if rooted Spirit can access the Broadcom BCM4334 FM/combo chip.

But RSSI signal strength at top left was always 0, -16, or -17, same as I've seen on many BCM433x chips when their FM antenna was shorted to ground.

Even if FM "worked" there are no obvious ALSA driver controls for FM audio. There are several references to "Internal FM" but that's only for devices using the Qualcomm WCN3660 FM/combo chips, which this phone doesn't have.

OTOH, the previous poster mentions seek working ? If it seeks to known stations, then the FM tuner part is working. I'm not sure if we have different variants here.

unless you get logs proving otherwise id say you are spot on. people earlier in this thread were convinced taking boardconfig.mk flags from cm and adding them to build.prop would suddenly turn on hardware like an FM receiver... :/

I have seen 0 and -181 on mine, nothing else, and I believe I have done everything stated in this thread.

Not sure what I did to get seek working, but I apparently messed it up doing stuff trying to get audio. It took about 5 minutes of it sitting there after telling it to seek, but it came up with a local station I know exists - 94.5.
