Pros/Cons of HTC Rezound vs. Galaxy Nexus

I haven't received my Rezound yet, but is the battery life as bad as Aaron from PhoneDog is saying it is?

I already went through the T-Bolt debacle and was hoping that this phone was better in that area.

Heavy use lasts as long as moderate use on the charge and incredible. I'm happy with it but could definately be happier. I love the power management on this thing!

Edit: HEAVY use! I didn't have anything to do at work today so i sat around playing on it non stop (internet, speed tests, showing it off, etc). Didn't need to charge it until after lunch when with the other two I'd get a quick charge in to last thru lunch on a normal day at work.

Thanks for the info! If it's better than the Charge and Incredible, then I'll be happy. I currently have the Charge and I don't think the battery life is that bad at all. I have it rooted however.

How does it compare to the Thunderbolt? I don't know why but I have atrocious battery life on that thing.

I live about 5 minutes away from you by the way! :)

Oh snap! Didn't even notice. From what I've seen on the tbolt, i would imagine better by far. Never owned one but saw a lot of frustration with others.

Yup, I am in the Mission Bay area near USD college lol.

That's good to hear! I absolutely just couldn't deal with the TB battery anymore. If the TB battery was good, I probably would still have it.

Those Phone Dog clips...I never really looked at Sense 3.5 before. Like how they did the app drawer with the slider to select different categories. Can you create more app drawer categories on the Rezound?

Check out the "accessories" and first "impressions/reviews" thread- Lots of good feedback on the battery life, the extended battery, and how to tweak the settings a bit to improve both.

In short, though- The battery life is pretty good. The Rez doesn't suffer the TBolt's issues, including draining the battery looking for 4G signal. The Rezound crosses in and out of 4G zones with aplomb.

The Rezound will give you an extra 2-3 hours over the Thunderbolt. Although I use it in Performance mode. I'm sure if you dropped it down to Normal or Economy, you'll see much better results. This phone seems to be an improvement over what the Thunderbolt was. If this phone was what the Thunderbolt should've been then I'd still have my Thunderbolt as well (although the screen shorting out from time to time might get me back in "refurb hell").

I had a question. When I had my GNEX I thought my LTE speeds where slow but when I got my Rezound I got around the same. One thing that did change was my signal strength. On my GNEX I always had -108 at home and when I got my Rezound I'm getting around -82. What does this actually mean? Is my Rezound actually the better phone in that department?

It may not mean anything. Android 4.0 (ICS) phones like the Nexus show the LTE signal strength when connected via LTE, but earlier phones always show the stronger 3G/CDMA signal strength even when using LTE.

Whichever phone gives a more reliable connection and faster data transmission speeds is the better phone, regardless of the reported dBm and especially the meaningless bars.

Futuristic meatloaf?!

As far as the Beats earphones, I do find it a bit comical how absolute some people are when commenting on them negatively and how that tends to correlate to people that haven't had any exposure to them. I was about as skeptical as some of these people (although I don't recall making such bold statements since not having any exposure to them and forming a definitive opinion on them would make me seem more ignorant than I already am....). When you compare the Beats package (EQ/Headphones) to what's typically packaged with other MP3 players/phones the Beats seems like a better setup. Would I pay a premium for the Beats tech on my phone? Most definitely not. Is it a nice feature that adds value to a great phone? Definitely. If you haven't had the opportunity to listen to the Beats system then at least educate yourself before making blind statements, and I mean listen to a wide range of songs, not just your Barry Manilow tracks :p, else you'll discredit yourself instantly. There are already plenty of us that have already listened to the Beats setup and don't need someone with no exposure telling us how "horrid" the system is.

It means you won't kill your battery. At home you're probably on wifi but when you are not you'll find the battery will perform better.

I see that Bob still doesn't understand that the free version of Quadrant is not a legit benchmark. At the very least, use the paid version for subscores. It's embarassing when a phone with inferior specs beats a newer phone in the free score, only to find out by using subscores that the older phone was truly inferior but had a higher file system ranking. Free quadrant gives the file system much higher weight than the CPU or GPU. I believe it makes up 40-50% of the total score, but that's from memory. I stopped using Quadrant a long time ago.

So which phone is older? The one that came out first or the one that kept getting pushed out because of hardware and software issues?
Which phone has inferior specs? The one that has higher hardware benchmarks, or the one that has higher browser marks?

To me Bob and some of the other reviews are like quadrant. How acurate and relevant are they in the real world.
Take all the specs and reviews, shake em all up in a bag. You know what you get? Nothing if the damn thing don't work!
