Pros/Cons of HTC Rezound vs. Galaxy Nexus

It may or may not. I just read the other day about Sprint's LTE transition and it said that they are going to use thier 1900MHz band along with their 800MHz iDEN (Nextel) bands for LTE. Where customers are going to have issues is under the 1900MHz coverage. The lower the frequencies, the better the building penetration. So if you're also in an area that was covered by Nextel (800MHz), you should be okay, otherwise it will probably be about the same building penetration as WiMax.

I thought I read that the LTE would be on the 1900MHz in 2012 and the LTE-Advanced would be on the 800MHz in 2013. I guess that makes more sense to use the better frequency for the future rather than the present, plus they probably have to wait that long to get people off of the iDEN/Nextel push to talk that is on that frequency now (as I come to understand it.)

I think Google is going to be pushing the Cloud especially since their Google Music Store is about to launch soon, part of the reason of going to fixed memory chips instead of external SD.

i heard this and it pisses me off because now, now that the carriers got rid of unlimited data, they are pushing downloading more. i know, most of you have grandfathered data, but i'm just now looking for my first smart phone. my firm used to pay for my data on a different plan.

Another factor to consider with the Rezound is that there are some reports that it will not only be a 4G phone, but it could be a global phone as well - and that would get me on board with it in a heartbeat.

I'm starting to think I might go with the SGN. I am tired of running out of app space because sense takes up so much space.
Nothing to do with sense really... The 'low on space' error was a problem with the Incredible's data/data partition being to small. Newer HTC don't have this problem

Thought the possibility of Vigor being a world phone was debunked??

I feel your pain and yes I'm grandfathered in...but I still like to have music local for quicker access and due to my file sizes. I only download/purchase 320kbps mp3's because of my deejaying...nothing smaller than that. MP3's at this rate are pretty large by mp3 standards. So that free 500MB that VW is supposedly offering will only hold me about 3-5 albums!

Okay, well how about things like 3G/4G. Lately my Incredible has been fighting like all hell to hold on to 1X, let alone 3G. I have had 2 speakers go out on me also. I am really disappointed with this phone and from what I have read about other phones, I am not sure I want to be locked in for 2 years if the Vigor is going to be a repeat of some of the same issues.

Fair enough... In my personal opinion HTC>every other phone manufacturer...

I totally agree. Though I've had my share of problems with my Dincs (speakers) the over all experience has been quite positive. I can't imagine jumping ship. They have been, by far, the best phones I've owned in a very long list. And besides, life without sense.... unimaginable.

This x1000.... I've had a touchwiz phone and have experience with moto and not a chance in hell i would leave htc....

The Incredible has been an okay phone, but definitely not INCREDIBLE. Now I am having issues with 3G and data in general. Idk if it is VZW limiting me, or if CM7 is broken, but if one of those is the case then I will consider staying with HTC.

I am not too excited by Touchwiz either, but I think the Stock ICS on the Galaxy Nexus would be close enough to Sense to move away from it. I loved Sense as a beginner, and also over stock froyo and possibly GB, but I think it is becoming overrated and it seems ridiculous to wait untold amounts of time for updates.

Very good points 2010, can't argue with that

Be nice to have all three devices out ASAP so we can stop our guessing :)

Added: My concerns based on knowns and guesses:

Nexus = No sd card (not an option for me)
Razr = Fixed battery, and 4430 at 1.2ghz. Will the thin design and chip selection result in a hot running device?
Rezound = If same LTE chip as TB, not good IMO.

This. And also the pentile screen on the Gnex and no HD on the Razr. I am sort of confused, with all these problems you mention regarding HTC with the Dinc and the TBolt, how are you all considering it the best phone brand. Is it just on features? From my perspective, features don't matter if it doesn't work right and becomes a time suck. Putting software aside, is there a hardware brand that is known for the best reliability and most trouble free ownership experience?

Even the "best" still has its issues. It's all relative.

True, it's all a matter of which issues you are willing to accept and deal with. Like a non-removable sd card and screen that shows pixels under a microscope are less troubling than bad battery life, signal issues, and waiting forever to get updates, for me at least.

Judging HTC by one poor phone (Thunderbolt) is like judging Motorola based only on their DX Gingerbread update, or Samsung for one of their poor phones. Everyone lays a turd (and many would say the TB is NOT a turd).

Also, some people have chimed in against the TB's screen, even though it's not PenTile. It's one of the older SLCDs that took a 24-bit input and dithered it to an 18-bit output. Not my favorite kind of screen. The new ones do true 24-bit color, and that should be what the Rezound uses.

I and a lot of others in the DX forum actually think the Moto DX GB update was really really good.

anyways. I'm leaning toward the Rezound more and more. I have never had an HTC Android device and i'm kind of craving that experience. I recently got my fiance an Inc and i've done a little playing around with it and on another Inc i got just to play around with. Either way i'm waiting on real hands on user reviews for all phones (rezound, Gnex, and RAZR) before i make my final decision.

The "when will Rezound get ICS" argument to me is pointless if your okay with rooting. CM9 will be awesome i'm pretty sure.

Ya know the majority of your battery problems is the fact you leave bluetooth, gps, wifi, 3g,and 4g on and then you wonder why your battery life sucks. Turn that crap off and set up a power saver profile on your phone. You'll be amazed how much longer your phone lasts.

The whole point of getting a smartphone with 4G and GPS and Bluetooth is having those things readily available. If everyone turned off their phones until they needed to make a call, they would have battery life for weeks, but the fact that people want to get email notifications, make hands-free calls at any moment and know what shops and bars are around them means they have to leave these things on. Manufacturers need to just realize that some things need to be changed or even given up to be competitive in this field. You won't hear an Apple employee tell you that you are supposed to turn everything off to make the battery last all day.

i actually agree with Prag. There is no point in having 4G on unless your downloading large files or viewing videos.

No point in having BT on if you NEVER use it.

Point is there are some simple things you can do to get a little more battery life that WONT affect the use of the device in which you describe.

I will say that some people (a lot of my friends lately lol) are being dramatic about bad battery life. In this age of smartphones battery life is not going to be what it was when you were using a Moto V80 flip phone. Your doing more with these devices than ever its just common sense. I agree that some companies probably could do a little better but hey it is what it is. Take it or leave it.

Personally I use juice defender cause I need to make my incredible last all day, but it is more about people that use their phone for business.

Actually, when your phone is in an area with good wifi coverage (i.e. your home), it conserves battery power to have wifi on. Just make sure you turn wifi off when the phone is no longer in an area with sufficient wifi coverage.

Not trying to change the subject of this thread, but I felt the need to correct this bit of misinformation.
