Root [Public Mobile] Thread CLOSED! Testers Needed n00b ROM from Boost port

I repeated the same procedures exactly as in Post #45 by smartmanvartan including the removal of framwork-res.apk and I got the same result with 3G right after enabling data
but I noticed that it's not running smoothly and lagging which never happened before.

I'll try few reboots and see if it's the same
I found the first boot was a bit laggy but after that it was fine... is that the case or are you still experiencing lagg?

It was still lagging after reboot, so I flashed the original update again with framework included. it work but with the same lagging. when I stopped the animation from the display it improved.
there is one more thing the account sync is much slower than before even though it 3G now!

I got 3g working. The only thing I did differently is I installed the update immediately after installing n00b rom. Previously I installed n00b rom, started it up, then restarted for the update. Awesome. Just sent a picture message, looks like it was successful, but I'll have to verify if my friend received it.

Take the n00b rom and remove the vdmc.apk and activation4005.apk from the system/app folder from the zip file.
In clockwork, wipe factory settings and wipe dalvik.
Install the rom that has the vdmc.apk and activation4005.apk removed.
Fix permissions and reboot.

At this point nothing will have changed.

Go to settings->mobile networks-> and select evdo only.
Then switch your phone into airplane mode and then back again.

This should give you back 3g. the problem is that the boost mobile rom has that option on there that switches it to cdma... the public mobile rom does not so that switch cant be turned back when the phone has a public mobile rom.

Once 3g is restored put your phone back into recovery.
Then wipe data again and dalvik.
Install the n00bVI rom and IMMEDIATELY apply the public mobile updater afterwards.
Then fix permissions and reboot.

Everything should be just peachy. :)

This worked :D! Thanks!

(just fixed up the layout for myself and decided to post it here as well, but all credit goes to smartmanvartan for the steps)

I reverted back to only n00b VI without the activation files, it's running very smooth comparing to the Rom+update.

how can I check if the CPU is overclocked? I have Rom toolbox but the maximum frequency it's showing is 1024MHz

Edit: about my last question, my bad I didn't notice that the OC kernel is optional with n00b VI.

Actually I noticed that too... the sync is slower... much slower

I'm finding a lot of lag in sending text msgs. Most time don't send at all,is this just public mobile or the actual noob from?

there is no lag on the boost side with n00b ROM, it's very difficult for me to troubleshoot on this side since I live in the USA and have boost.

I think the zip I gave flashes what's needed to make it work on Public Mobile but I just don't know what else needs to be done to get you guys up to full speed with the ROM.

I havent seen it mentioned but anyone notice the Public Mobile warp has a diff HW version?

So it took me until now to realize picture messaging isn't working. I can receive picture messages however. When I send a picture it appears to work, but then the person never actually receives it.

I don't picture message often, but after a few pics and no one commenting, I asked my friends.. none of them received the pictures.. not a blank message or anything.

I have this issue if I try to send a text while receiving one. However often it will say msg not sent even though it actually was.

I started using GO SMS and enabled the send report, and so far so good :)
With the stock message, I had an issue of unreceived msg, so i switched up.

What did you do exactly? Did you flash over the latest version of n00b because this thread is a little old and I'm not sure how well this works...

I flashed it with the new rom... but now im on yours ...i love noob.s rom but i miss call and mms and ur the only one who as releash a rom publi mobile on this site...thank you for that

sorry, this thread died a long time ago, I will update the OP and request the thread be closed...

I give my full blessing to anyone who wants to take n00b from the Boost thread and port it to your phone, it probably really wouldn't take that much effort for someone.

I would think it might be as simple as replacing the ramdisk, updating the build.prop and replacing the apn xml with the stock one... beyond those few things it probably wouldn't take much else.
