Root Q & A for all things DL30 leaked

DL30 ... deletes VZW bloatware which is fine with me BUT also deleted my visual voicemail and I don't like that. Oh and I upgraded from DI01 ... the radio/baseband did not update. It remained DI01 ... I flashed a dl09 update .. gps works fine

You probably want the full DL30 then and not the superclean version

try the dl09 radio

Figured it out, some how all of my favorites in contacts got a + before the number and this wouldn't let me send them texts, even though it worked before just not 2.2.

Wasted all of that time for something that stupid. Just glad I got it figured out.

After every reboot my volume is set to vibrate and then one click up on the volume rocker puts it back to 100%. Is that a bug or just a setting I have wrong.

well kids the good news is jt almost had ext4 on tonight, maybe tomorrow fingers crossed...not bad for no kernel source

Yup very encouraging. :)
Only problems was he said the droid chick was talking to him and dozens of us who were planning to go to bed stayed up, alas he mini borked and called it a night. Such are the ways of late night irc life :p

I was just happy to wake up and NOT find us on super clean 11 or something

Amen to that

Can someone help me out with getting Flash to work? I'm running DL30 superclean v6, downloaded flash from market and installed, and am using default included browser.

I go to abc.com, click on watch for episode and a flash ad will come up and play fine, then the show will come on and it plays really choppy and the audio is in slow motion. I go to other sites and they say either my device isn't supported or that i do not have flash on my device.

I went to settings and enabled plugins to always and still have same problems. It seems i'm the only one with this problem...

Any ideas?

Nits I love you bro, and you've helped me out a ton, but i think you might have missed somethings in my post, lol.

its not, thats the point.

I was saying we were both saying the same thing, and yet I still have problems with flash

I think one thing that you need to keep in mind with flash is that watching non mobile optimized videos is a crapshoot....if you want to watch higher ref videos you ll certainly want to be on wifi or the experience will be sluggish or problematic with slower 3g speeds

This is always why I thought flash was nothing great for phones to begin with

This^^^ if you are streaming flash over 3G it a real crapshoot even if you have the fastest possible 3G signal. Having said that I've been playing with flash browser over wifi and its never stuttered once. On 3G its sometimes smooth and sometimes a slide show

Ive been on wifi the whole time, and I think that the problem is is the res is too high for the phone to handle...

but still, other people say the videos work fine for them and hbo.com works fine, which is weird, cause when i go to hbo.com it says their website is completely flash now and my device doesn't support it, but i can use their mobile optimized site or their html site, but either way, i haven't gotten a video to play.

so i don't know how other people are getting theirs to work, or maybe no body has really tried to watch a full episode of anything...

i dunno, but i'm about to give up.

SAPS, what are you referring to when you say "flash browser?"

can you do me a favor and go to abc.com and try to watch a full episode of anything and see if it doesn't stutter or audio plays in slow motion?

Theres two things going on. On one hand I think its weird that smaller res videos like advertisement videos play fine, which are lower res, which play before the full episode starts, so I think that my flash is working fine.

On the other hand, when the full episode starts, the video is clear but completely choppy and unwatchable, and the audio is in slow motion, as if my phone just doesnt have the processing power to handle it. But, I don't know for sure either way.

If everyone else is watching these higher res full episodes fine on sites like abc.com, then there must be something wrong with my phone.

btw, i am using wifi the whole time i've been trying to watch these, and i have also tried 3g and a different browser. nothing changes.

one more question: If I download VZW fullbloat dl30 and flash it over top of super clean v6, just to see if that changes the Flash problem for me, will that work fine? or do i need to do something else before i flash to fullbloat?

also, vice versa: can i flash dl30 vzw full bloat from superclean dl30, and then reflash superclean back after if i choose to, without doing anything else aside from simply flashing it in cwm?

You are right abc.com full episodes were choppy and commericals were fine. I suppose its site by site maybe. Not sure. I wonder if the DL30 modem will help this at all

fox.com always worked well on my incredible...im too lazy to reinstall to flash to check it out though :)

im almost positive the abc.com shows is just too high of res of shows. fox.com has smaller or lower res shows and they seem to be working almost perfect. I think it has all to do with processing power and not so much with bandwidth.

I'm sure newer phones with gpu based dual core processors will be able to demolish these videos, with ease. But our 1ghz snapdragon processors have a lot to deal with besides processing near hd videos (probably ED (enhanced definition) video, like 480p).

yeah, the browser i have running with house md playing is eating around 150mb of ram, and i typically get around 200mb available. so with a higher res video, im sure its eating up all the available ram and then the processor is struggling to decode the video. I'm about positive thats the problem.
