These performance metrics are basically just a way to measure the speed of the hardware (and software) as compared to other phones (or devices). You see this at the end of the Quadrant run where it tells you how the X stacks-up against other phones running the same performance tests.

Here's a recent Quadrant run for my phone for those that haven't run the test and what to see how the X compares to other phones:

If you guys like benchmarks, you should also check out NeoCore.

I think the only phone that beats out the X in this benchmark is the Galaxy S, which has the biggest, baddest mobile GPU available.

Nice...kinda like Transformers vs. Iron Man Its a little hard to select "benchmark" without making it select "interactive mode", but I got it there.

I got 43.8 fps on two successive runs.

We can use the benchmarks like those of us that use them when trying to get a custom built PC. Based on benchmarks, I want Intel cpu's.

See the benchmarks, then do something like open HR Battle 3D, Google Maps; any big app on the X and another phone on that list to see if the benchmarks do tell the story.

Opening HR Battle 3D on my Droid running Froyo is alot slower than on the X. Guess the 512MB memory on the X vs. the 256MB on the Droid comes into play too. I can open and close it on the X before it loads all the way on my Droid.

Just like PC cpu's, the benchmarks do tell some kind of story about performance.

Dang it! Can't top Android_LIFE...

Rebooted, re-ran Quadrant and "only" got a 1280 (and a 8.406 (0.64) Linpack)...had a bunch of apps that I had downloaded and played with today, lol, so I just had to try for a higher score with a clean boot, lol!

My Droid X only scores 1075. Is that because I'm running Beautiful Widgets with Live Wallpaper as well as some other widgets?

I've run it 10 times in a row now, the lowest time was 1096, highest was 1367
Most of the runs were close to 1280
