Root Quadrant standard scores???

Just pulled a 2300 on CM6 w/turbo....in love with this rom...can't believe I waited so long to use it.

All kidding aside, I bought the damn phone for use as a mobile internet connection 1st and foremost, and a phone with bluetooth 2nd. But it didn't take long before I caught the Evo Tweaking Virus. I wont give up 4G, so the CM field of ROMs and kernels is not an option.

I have used the Quadrant score more as a tool to test settings than for bragging rights. I think it pulled around 900-1,000 on stock froyo. I've had it as high as 1503 running Fresh 3.3.0.1. w/ Netarchy 4.1.9.1. cfs. I'll be damned if I can tell the difference. The only tweak that concerns me now is to battery life. With SetCPU set to "Conservative," 128 min 998 max, my battery life is ridiculously good.

To those bragging of quadrant scores in the 2000+ range, What has been removed (besides 4G, the biggest selling point of the phone)?
Do you leave your phone at these settings?
If so,
For any given CPU usage,
How is the heat?
What is your battery drain?
Could you post a Juice plotter graph showing battery drain at these settings?

I'm really curious.

tmWilson - I don't mind 4G not being available because there is no 4G in my area. I overclock on main at 1190 max and 128 min. I just reinstalled JuicePlotter, so it's not 100% acc yet. My batt has been better than any Sense config I ran....ANY. I leave wifi and BT off until I need them. Bright on 50%

Are you pulling a 2300 Quadrant score with those settings?

I don't know much about Quadrant but have noticed my best score EVER was while using CM6.....scoring just under Nexus1 at around 1300 VS sub 1000 using Sense based ROMs.....what does this mean to me?

That is a VERY good question! When I was running CM6 it gave me the highest Quadrant score out of any ROM. However....I must say....some of the Sense ROMS (currently Evio 2 - 1.7.7) score lower on the Quadrant but seem to run faster. Not just menus opening....everything. Go figure.

mine have always varied greatly. anywhere from 900-1900.

I started running an occasional quadrant and an occasional linpack just to see where the phone stood. other than that I go by real world results.

I've noticed whenever I run quadrant for the first time after a restart my scores tend to be in the 1100 - 1200 range. Keep in mind my phone is overclocked to 1152 running sense rom with custom kernel. Then I run the test multiple times again and its usually in the 1400 - 1500 range.

Please do not rely on quadrant scores or even over clocking to get good real world results on your device. An example is this video I made when I was using Baked Snack rom 1.7. This was not overclocked nor was it getting high quadrant scores. It doesn't show it on this video but that rom was clocking at 1000 something in quadrant. I don't even recall it going over 1100. Your speed and real world performance as someone mentioned rely on the rom and the kernel it's using.

Would this kernel not work on cm7? Am I relegated to the tiamat line?

I'm willing to give it a go unless you think for sure it won't work.

yeah that kernel is for cm6. and no you are not relegated to tiamat only. if you go to the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html, there are other aosp kernels that you could try. it is just that tiamat is the most consistent aosp kernel and it works for a lot of people. but kernels have always been YRMV so try other ones out and see. maybe try savage zen or ziggy's.

here's a noob ? for ya... what is everyone using to test quad scores? never done it and thought, might as well join in on all the fun...

There's a quadrant app on the market..... but honestly they mean almost nothing when it comes to how well your phone actually performs in day to day tasks.

I just downloaded it and ran it for the first time and I'm sitting at 1384, and now I'm uninstalling and going on with my day because I love the way my phone runs.

yeah i honestly never use it. i tried and ran a few times, but really they are just numbers to me. the more important thing is how it feels for you. plus i never trust those apps anyways. i remember trying a few different ones and i was getting results all over the place for the same rom. who knows how accurate they are.

I just got 1376 but it's pointless because you have to overclock on performance governor to get a good score, which I would never run as my every day setup in a million years

Newer phone = higher scores. Wait till the faster dual core and quad core phones ship in a few months and others will be bragging about smoking that score
