Root question about factory reset on a rooted phone

what will be the best way to reset to factory settings? going into recovery-wipe-reset all? or is there a better method? just don't want to jump the gun and do anything silly.

A factory reset will wipe all apps and user data from the phone.

If you are on a custom ROM, you will still have the custom ROM after the factory reset.

A factory reset will NOT unroot you.

If you want to unroot you will have to follow the unrooting guide for your h-boot.

I have rooted my chahcha few days back.

While registering for whatsapp i realized when i press "8" it types "9", so my

mobile contain quite a few "8"s, but while sending message or other purpose the

keyboard works perfectly.

Any suggestion or solution please.

Thanks

try clearing the cache for your keyboard. if that does not work then try and wipe dalvik cache and cache. doing that usually fixes most issues like that.

no all a factory reset is is just a wipe of your data. your radios and such will not be wiped. why do you need to do a factory reset? is your phone rooted?

I just came looking for the answer to this same question. Why? because I want to sell my tablet, keep it rooted (increased value IMO) and use the proceeds to buy a new Nexus 7.

So, did ocn's answer suffice?
Check your sd card for any personal info/pix also that you want to delete before selling it.:)

As RX states check with the device subforum. some phones don't do well with a factory reset with root. The owners of your same phone should be able to tell you what you need to do. I would think that a cache / dalvic cache clean would do but you have a different phone than I do so who knows.
