Root Question about next official update

If I am rooted and currently running 2.2.1 and 2.3.340 and VZW pushes out the new update (assuming it to be GB) and I take that update while running rooted Froyo (or is that even possible), what will happen? Will my X take the update and install the official release and my phone will be on GB and not be rooted anymore or will it brick my phone, kill my phone, make it turn green...what? :D

Or is the only way to get to the official next release do you have to sbf back to stock and then take it?

If you are rooted (and I mean JUST rooted ) without uninstalling any system bloat apps or on a rom the ota can usually go through and will bring you up to date and in this case a stock gb build from a vow release
The roms and uninstalled bloat is what stops the ota push

I haven't uninstalled any of the bloatware, but I am running DarkSlide 4.2, which probably does have some removed.

If the official GB release comes out, I really want to move up to it, since everyone in here has played it up as being so great. So, I just wanted to know how or what I needed to do if and when it does come out.

So, if I am running DarkSlide 4.2, then I can use CWR and restore my stock rom backup that I made right after I rooted and then take the update and all will be fine? Probably can't take it straight from DarkSlide, can I?

Yes...you will restore your stock backup to get the OTA ...it WILL break root...and its iffy on how we will go about rooting from there...

If you restore your stock root backup you should be able to take the ota ,,,some can some can't ,,,example is when froyo came out I was able to do this but I had to totally unroot my gfs x for it to take ,,,if it does not take by restoring a backup then you can ether sbf and then ota or maderstcok then ota

right...

since im on the GB leak i will just be SBFing and then taking the OTA...i don't think its worth SBFing, then rooting, then flashing a backup to get the OTA...
