Help Question about self flashing EVO to Metropcs

Ok guys I need help from anyone and everyone. I am sick of trying to fix the usb port on my EVO so I am going to sell this one and get another one. My question is I don't feel like paying someone to flash a PRL and apn to my phone and then call metropcs to add my esn to their network. My question is if its that simple? Flash the metro PRL, delete Sprint apn and install metro apn, and then call to add esn? The EVO I have now that I've been trying to fix was already flashed so not sure.
