Root Questions about building from source/programming

It's more about debugging/compiling/fixing errors

CS4 Production Suite has nothing to do with Android dev, unless you want to skin a new theme etc...

Best thing to do is donate!

Oh:(.......... I would donate but I'm only in middle school and I basically spent all my money for this phone. Well is there some sort of software i need to do this. I really would love to help.

I would suggest staying in school :) And if you really want to get your feet wet in this kind of software development, try building a ROM from source first:

You'll have to install Linux, sync up with the source repositories, & learn all kinds of stuff along the way, then someday may be able to improve on them.

well you get it from here and linux is a operating system, so make sure you know how to dual-boot a pc, or how to install an operating system. then you will have to follow the guide that was posted slightly above this post

Google "installing ubuntu" or something like that, you should find some good instructions.
The commands have to be done from the terminal in linux. I recommend ubuntu (a version of linux) as that is what the guide uses.

Oh well my dad said I can't dual boot our computer so is there another way?

EDIT: D'oh, posted too late. Oh well :P

Two great places to get started with Ubuntu are the official documentation and official forums if you need help beyond that. Ubuntu's community is second to none :)

But if you want my opinion, I think Linux Mint would be a better choice for someone who's getting started. It's essentially Ubuntu with some extra goodies that make it even easier for a non-guru to use. It should be compatible with all instructions that are written for Ubuntu.

VMWareplayer is another program that's free & works like VirtualBox for installing Linux without dual-booting.

This discussion should probably be moved to that thread.

Well, I moved it to it's own thread. It grew quite off topic from the original post, and I don't really want it to clog up Isaac's build from source post either. He intended that to not be about setting up a linux distro, but what to do once you know your way around linux a bit.

Anywho, carry on!

Yeah, sorry my question was a bit to broad.

I admire the OPs enthusiasm for the cause.

I suggest he look into computer classes at school. my old middle school had some introductory computer classes that led into really advanced stuff, programming, coding, and what not, those led to the REALLY cool stuff at highschool.

knowledge is power, man.
