After reading the zero tolerance poet this should get interesting. I am 71 and just got my first cell phone a month ago. An LG Olympus V and registered with Virgin Wireless. I need a phone more for the data than the phone. I sell things online and I NEED a scanner. The Virgin thing was crap... No service, never knew when I would be getting coverage, etc. so I returned the phone and back to square one. I am thinking about going with Verizon and getting a Droid X. I had seen where I can get the phone for $.01 at Amazon wireless. What's the catch. I tried one deal (Virgin) which went south so I am apprehensive about another deal. ANY thoughts, help, instructions, anything would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...Peter

The only catch that I am aware of is you have to sign up for a 2 year contract with Verizon and a $30/month data plan.

At your age (no offense) a device with a larger screen such as the X should be good for you. Of course there are other devices with the same size screen such as the Thunderbolt.

My Father is 64. He's almost done with his iPhone contract with AT&T(his first smartphone) and plans on switching to Verizon. He likes my DroidX alot. However he says he would feel more comfortable having a physical keyboard which is found on the Droid2. He needs to be able to push the keys.

Peter,
I responded to your PM. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do to be of assistance to you. :)

71. Perfect English skills.
Knows the difference between then and than, and a and an. Gotta love it!

Droid X on Verizon is pretty awesome.

Kim,

Thanks for your quick reply. Problem is I never got it. It's probably lost somewhere in cyberspace. If it's possible could you send it again. Sorry for all the messages. I am back on track with my password.
