R U Happy with bionic

The bionic is like a super computer in your hand. The iPhone looks pretty, and has a nice prestigious look to it, but the bionic is a beast! I can tether with four laptops all while talking on a conference call and checking my email at the same time. The bionic is nice.

Interesting. I have a Bionic and I can't get a stable connection while tethering on ONE laptop. Not asking it to do any more than that. When I use a third party app to do so, I drain the battery so much that the USB port output on my brand new i7 laptop cannot keep up with the phone's usage. I find this to be a poor product. I paid $300 for a phone that doesn't meet my expectations. These are observations from someone who uses phones for what they are made for.

Not happy with mine. When the data is working it's great. But with it dropping so much who cares if its 3G or 4G.

To add to my own statement. When this phone runs properly I love it. The size is perfect, fast as heck. If they can get the bugs out, then I will be a happy camper. It's just hard to ignore certain issues around this thing.

As noted in another thread ...

Contact the supplier of the third-party software you bought.

Verizon recommends when using their mobile hotspot that you have it plugged intp a wall charger because of the heavy battery drain.

As noted eleshere, charging from a USB port is a lower amperage than a wall charger and takes longer.

In essence ... TANSTAFL (there aint no such thing as a free lunch)

Personally, I am only having data connection drops every now and then. Usually comes back by itself or toggle airplane mode fixes. I can live with that for now until OTA fixes it.

Love the screen size and brightness in sunlight. I guess the RAZR is thinner, but honestly I don't think I want it thinner. I like the styling of the RAZR but that is just looks, and the Bionic isn't embarrassingly ugly by any means, Imo. Snappy as hell and does everything I need. Free USB tether to my laptop right out of the box (not rooted) works flawlessly, including secure VPN connection. Battery lasts 12 to 20 plus hours... I was lucky to get 8 on my tiny Eris!

Plus I got the free vehicle navigation dock, desktop dock, car charger, spare battery....Costco deal thanks to YankeeDude!

If I was buying now i'd probably go for RAZR or Nexus but I would have had to rationalize the lack of SD and fixed battery.
I got a great product at a great value with minor data bug annoyance that will soon be remedied.

Wow, I don't get these people bitching about this phone...I had a droid x, charge and know I have the bionic, it's an awesome phone. It is very fast, has plenty of ram, the one thing that bugged me about both of my other droids was that they would randomly shut down or freeze up on me and this phone has not hiccuped once. I have the extended battery so battery life is not an issue.

Very happy with the Bionic! Haven't had any issues except for data drops for a day or two after installing Juice Defender. Uninstalled and haven't had any data connection issues since. I am in a good 4G area though.

Only complaint at all is the camera.

Take a look at Camera ZOOM FX if you haven't already done so. Better than stock capera app. It isn't free. It has a ton of free add-ons.

The camera lens is still the stock camera lens.

If delay is your concern ... are you set at 8MB? 6MB (the default) sux. There is less delay in 8MB. There still is delay. There is also delay in Camera ZOOM FX.

Try 8MB then try Camera ZOOM FX.

I'm pleased with the phone. No phone is perfect. People do not really realize what they have until it is taken away from them.

Issues I had with my previous phone that the Bionic does not have:

*Horrible battery life
*Impossible to see the screen in sunlight(It wasn't even easy to see the screen in my car using navigation)
*GPS took more than 60 seconds(No exaggeration, it was like this every single time and frustrated me a ton) to lock and would completely lose signal and take some time to lock again while navigating multiple times during the trip
*Glitches with the Calendar app would make it skip a month when you were trying to look at the next month
*Couldn't set default reminder time of the calender to no reminder
*Would send text messages to the wrong person
*No real support from the manufacturer(The Moto forum on the other hand is very active and you can talk to the people who are working on fixing your phone's software)
*No Gingerbread sleep animation
*Autocorrect on the keyboard was very invasive and overall made things more difficult, not less
*The manufacturer actually took stuff out of the stock build that is available in Vanilla Android
*None of the bloatware was able to be uninstalled at all(You can uninstall some on the Bionic without rooting)
*The paint on the outside of the phone started to chip off over time despite the phone never having been dropped or roughed up in any way
