Help Radio Interface Resource Shortage

No it's also a problem on 3G, as far as htc fixing it the last time that I discussed this with Virgin they were blaming it on Sprint so who knows?

So would an app like "Connection Checker Pro" that toggles airplane mode automatically upon discovering no 3G/4G data connection work? Or does this issue only affect the SMS/Calls and not data?

Dude dont worry about it, dont be foolish and buy a phone with known issues. The fix does not work for everyone. It made me give up on Virgin Mobile and go with Straight Talk.

Yeah the reason why I'm thinking of leaving the Triumph is because there are so many issues and it took amazing work from developers for it to work properly. Now the Evo's most basic function isn't working properly and will require a risky process that many including myself are unfamiliar with and also requires a custom ROM. I agree. I'm just exploring the options of purchasing this phone. Thanks for the advice.

So, first off I joined this forum specifically for this issue, since I've had the Evo V 4G for VM for about a week now (upgraded from the Optimus V). I have experienced the "radio interface resource shortage" thing, but it really hasn't bothered me too much. Typically, this is how it goes:

-Hit send in stock messaging app, see the icon that signifies the message is pending
-If it persists, I simply let the screen lock, which triggers JuiceDefender.
-A moment or two later, I'll unlock the screen, the error message will be there, but the message will have been sent. Only twice (in hundreds of messages) have I had to resend.

Granted, there has been an occasional delay (as much as 8-10 minutes) in receiving a message (which I'm only aware of because the stock messenger shows the time the message was sent instead of the time it was received) but I haven't found it as frustrating as many have. It was more my curiosity about the issue that brought me to this forum, and while I'm not what you'd call "technologically savvy", I am capable of following specific directions, so I think at some point I'll go through the steps Leslie Ann and others have posted to eliminate the problem altogether.

I was new to HTC when I got this phone and started having the resource shortage error. Was a little taken back with the steps to root and then s-off bt when I did it , it was actually quite easy followed all the steps looked at the video and found that the s-off was easier then the rooting. Performed the turn your evo v in to 3d and have not had a issues since love this phone and all the help that everyone on here gives people. You all are the greatest :)

Honestly, it's not that risky and some of the roms are very stock-ish, So much that on first glance you would never even know they were altered.

Root and rom and I can pretty much assure you, you will never go back to non-root.

As for the mods to fix the radio... All parts of it are stock HTC files. The most done was alter a number so it came next chronologically so the system would allow it to flash.

I got a stupid question.... as of today What does Virgin Mobile tech support actually say about Radio Interface Resource Shortage and all of the different text message errors? I have never myself called about any of my many issues with this phone because I know after hours of talking with tech support they will only give me a replacement phone. I'm just wondering because I would like to sell my phone but I'm afraid to because of all the issues that the buyer will have .

Best solution is Root your phone, then s-off then follow the turning your phone into evo 3d guide that is sticky in the rooting section. It removes the problem :)

Someone in the other thread said they got their monthly bill payed for because of the error. That's about the best you can do. I s-off'd and evo 3d'd mine and I haven't had the error since...really, it runs amazing.

Maybe it's just me, but even after following the guide, my phone still has signal issues.

I don't mind waiting a few seconds for messages to send, but I also miss calls sometimes. That's what really bothers me.
Any tips? By the way, I wasn't able to do the very last part of the guide, the PRL part. I ran into problems and I was like ehhh whatever. Maybe that's my problem? haha

I don't need any tips or advice about how to fix the issues I only want to know from anyone that actually called or emailed Virgin Mobile.

Pretty much they blame you for breaking it, so they make you factory reset it(Useless) and do a pri update(Kinda useless). Sometimes they may say to delete messages. They make you go through a lot of steps like if you were a teen girl....Im a teen dude I can build pcs and root phones yet I decide to act stupid for the lols.

They don't give a damn. They'll say just to try "delete messages" or reboot the phone. Or some other BS, but the real way is to s off and flash the radios. They probably won't even do an official fix  for the people who dont want to root, s off, and flash custom roms.

im fairly certain this happens mostly in low signal areas.

the ONLY time i get this error is at my house, and im right in the middle of two sprint towers that are very far from me. my OV and triumph always had crap signal here too.

anywhere else I go in the city i have nearly full signal, FAST 4G, and never get that bug.

only seems to happen in this low signal area.

I am actually in a really good signal area with high speeds in 4g but I was getting the error so I did the s-off and turn it into evo 3d not problems since. However when I called Tech support thier aware of the problem they say that its being worked on, the tech blamed Google I asked if he was seriously saying that. Told him he was clueless for the reasoning and he offered me a credit since we have to do the clear code all the time

I got my phone middle of June and switched to Evo around 6/15. I started experiencing text call problems the following Friday.

First few calls were factory reset the phones. Then email and subsequent phone call resulted in reprovision TWICE. None fixed the error.

Next I contacted HTC support. They said it's a Sprint problem. At the end of the support, I took their survey and rank the resolution dismal and not satisfied. Amazingly, a HTC support called back to inquire why. Sadly, the guy acknowledged there's a problem and they are working with Sprint on it. That was end of June. I followed up again in middle of August, nothing.

Wrong, it happens even in place with a strong signal. I think low signal is a contributing factor, but it is not the real cause. I get great signal in my apartment, yet that's where I get most of the text/calling problems.

Unfortunately, Sprint or Virgin Mobile hasn't had the balls to confront the issues surrounding Radio Interface Shortage. They admit that there is a problem but do not man up and decide to give out actual solutions.

I am slowly becoming fed up with Sprint and Virgin Mobile. I might consider moving to T-Mobile with a Galaxy S3 or the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

I've had no problems yet with sending text, but sometimes there will be a delay in me receiving them. I've done the profile and PRL updates which I was told would help.

This is the very reason that I returned that phone. I was getting that message so often during the day that I only had the phone a week before I returned it. Great phone otherwise.

Functionally it's pretty much the only issue with this phone as opposed to my last $300 Virgin flagship, the thankfully inimitable Motorola Triumph. :banghead:

I'm a quick learner, having had an android phone for all of a month and a half; I know what root is & I'm guessing turning the phone into a Evo 3D is just customizing the ROM, but somebody help out the newbie here and explain what s-off is.
Please and THANK YOU
